Pender Living

Matthew made his way to Nebraska this week and up to Pender for the weekend. It sounds like they kept him pretty busy. Friday night happy hour and dinner with corn on the cob and BLTs with tomatoes from the garden followed by PHS football and drinks with Jaima and Cam and friends. Saturday was a day at the lake with the ladies and kids. He also went to Popo’s, the feedlot, the pheasant farm, a farm sale and got to see Beemer on the way back from the lake. Whew. 

And he was having so much fun, he stayed another night for pizza and cocktails as his work meeting isn’t until late afternoon.

Summit County Soccer

While it is a bit ridiculous that we are traveling to Silverthorne for soccer, it was an excuse for a quick trip to the mountains. The team hung tough and lost in the last couple of minutes 5-4. We were proud of the way T-man played and he also scored a goal!! There certainly could be worse places to watch a soccer game. 

Fortunately, our friends who have the only other Louisville kid on the team, knew people that had a place in the mountains. Actually, two different people. In a nutshell, there was some confusion on guests at one house and instead of staying in Frisco, we stayed in Copper. It was a much smaller place, but it was right at the base of Copper and D-man got to hit as many golf balls as he wanted for $5. We walked right downstairs for dinner last night and this morning, we walked over to central village for coffee, doughnuts, and some time on the parkour course for T-man and his friend. It was a great way to turn what could have been a very long day into a mini- vacation.

Breakfast and a Book

Audio books and the Rick Riordan book series have been so liberating for T-man this summer. He finished one series this summer and has now started another. He even wanted to wake up early this morning to read. 

What a beautiful way to start the morning. The flowers outside the kitchen window also are brightening my days as well. These just naturally have spread and we love it! 

Wednesday Happy Hour

With school back in session and a more regular schedule, Marshall and I headed to happy hour on Wednesday afternoon. D-man was at the golf course and T-man at flag football so it worked out well. 

It was a really nice day so we decided to go to Por in downtown Louisville. We sat outside, had some apps, and enjoyed a couple cocktails. 

We’re starting to get back into the school routine. They are still working out T-man’s schedule as he got bumped up to 7th grade math - which he is super excited about! We are so proud of him!!!! And D-man already missed a day of school for an 18-hole golf tourney yesterday. That makes three tourneys in 1week. He’s frustrated with his play, but he’s determined to get better - he woke up at 6:00 and headed to the course with his friend.......

Weekend Wrap Up

We were finally all home for the weekend. It was a weekend of hanging out with friends and getting stuff done around the house and garage. On Friday night, Marshall and I had happy hour on the front porch, we all went out for Mexican and then D-man went to the pool with two friends and just hung out. 

Saturday and Sunday were very similar to each other. Running errands, getting stuff done around the house and BBQ with friends each night. D-man golfed both days, T-man played soccer with friends at Heritage Park on Saturday and I also got in a nice walk with a friend. Marshall did a lot of yard work - it looked great for the BBQ.

First Golf Meet

Tryouts on Monday. Meet on Thursday. The developmental team had a match against two other teams and Monarch walked away with the top 4 spots. D-man was right off the top scores. He was disappointed in his play, but excited to talk about it so that is a good sign.

High School and Middle School

Both boys headed back to school on Wednesday. We are no longer in the same school and we are no longer in elementary school. It’s sad to see summer coming to an end, but a new chapter begins and life moves forward. I missed their first day, but I’m pretty sure they didn’t notice much (but they both greeted me at the back door when I got home last night at 10:00 so maybe they missed me a bit).

Colorado Wine Country

With all the Peavy men gone, it was the perfect opportunity to plan a girl’s weekend getaway with Nadja to Colorado wine country in Palisade. We took off Thursday after work and were able to get dinner before the hotel bar closed. We then enjoyed a bottle of wine on the porch. 

On Friday, we worked from the hotel/pool and then headed out to do a few tastings before they closed - and caught happy hour at the last winery. We then walked into town and had dinner at the local bar and grill and then grabbed a cocktail at the distillery before heading back to the hotel for some pool time. 

After breakfast on Saturday, we hopped on our bikes and headed to a few wineries. We ended up being out all  day and taking our time at each winery. We had early dinner at the brewery in town before going back for a few hours at the pool. We did not plan to stay out all day, but it was perfect! 

On Sunday, we stopped by the Farmer’s Market and picked up a few bottles of wine before heading home in horrible traffic - good thing we took off at a decent time. What a fun and different experience. We’re already talking about what we will do next year!

Backpacking in Rocky Mountain National Park

 Not to be outdone by his older brother, T-man and Marshall headed out this weekend for their backpacking trip with five other father son duos. They spent the night at Grand Lake Lodge on Thursday night before their five mile hike to their campsite. They had a pretty steep day hike on Saturday to a lake which was a highlight. The weather was amazing and I think the boys were much better prepared with gear this year - ask Marshall about his sleeping quilt! 

On Saturday evening, T-man fell on a stick and tore open a gash in his leg. After much deliberation, they decided to bandage it up and deal with it on Sunday. Luckily, Marshall had thrown in some butterfly bandaids right before leaving. T-man was a real trooper on the hike out. A stop at urgent care brought some antibiotics and some additional bandages (it would have been stitched up if they had been there 24 hours earlier). Even with this mishap, they are already planning for next year.
