Bird Launching "Stuff"

Marshall joked that we don't have time to be "empty nesters" as we are too busy. Ha. It's been nice to be home and take in some activities with some friends.

I'm really enjoying our Mahjong Mondays and Marshall and team are trying a different trivia spot on Wednesdays. Last week, Marshall had a Friday night poker evening while I attended a sound bath followed by dinner and drinks with some girlfriends (one of my friends won this at the school booster bash). I wasn't sure what to expect - but I really enjoyed it! 

Last weekend, we also ventured up to Nederland for a hike and a trip to Knotted Root Brewery with friends and also played Pickleball on Sunday. (My coworker joked that is a VERY Colorado weekend). 

This Thursday, we saw Hell's Kitchen downtown which I really enjoyed. And we had the Wrights over to play cards and have dinner. We haven't been able to catch up with them in some time so it was great to spend time with them and laugh a lot. We currently track who is winning at Euchre and we discovered we hadn't played cards since June! I guess Marshall is right - bird launching is busy!

Ultimate in Minnesota

Tanner's conference tourney was just south of Minneapolis last weekend. On Saturday, it was cold, rainy and muddy, but the Marshall family made the trek down to watch Tanner and his IHUC team compete in their conference tourney. The team went 2-1 on Saturday and it was nice to get play-by-play updates on the two games the Marshall family watched. 

Tanner was able to go to out to lunch after the event with the Marshall's which made me so happy. Having the Marshall family stand out in the cold and rain to watch our son do what he loves brought tears to my eyes. I feel very fortunate to have family that shows up to support our son doing what he loves. 

It was a tough day for the team on Sunday as they dropped both games, but they are on to regionals in Des Moines next weekend. Go IHUC! 

Sassy and Classy and Fabulously 50

What a wonderful long weekend we had in Seattle. We were able to squeeze in quite a bit for a 3-day trip which was lovely. 

After arriving late on Thursday night, we worked from Ann and Steve's place on Friday. I also was able to meet up with a couple coworkers at Matt's on the Market down in Pike Place Market which was lovely. 

Friday evening kicked off with drinks at the Schreibers enjoying the breathtaking view which was followed by dinner at restaurant in downtown Madrona. On Saturday, it was a lazy morning enjoying the view of Mt. Ranier during a sunny Seattle day in April. 

The rest of Saturday brought us over to West Seattle to spend time with Michelle, Jim, Claire and Claudia. We enjoyed the pre-party at Michelle and Jim's before we headed to White Center to the Southgate Roller Rink to celebrate Michelle's 50th birthday! Michelle and Jim threw a great party. How fun to don some skates and zip around the rink. Michelle looked fabulous in her birthday outfit and I wore her backup outfit which was super fun. We then spent a little time at Michelle and Jim's before heading back to our AirBnB. 

On Sunday, we picked up pastries for Easter brunch from a cute little bakery by our AirBnB that Jim mentioned. We then all cooked up a delicious brunch - pancakes, eggs, bacon and hash browns. 

I'm so glad we made the trip to the PNW to celebrate Michelle.

OCO

A windy weekend spent in Cedar Rapids cheering on Tanner and the IHUC Ultimate team in the OCO (Old Capital Open). It was wonderful to watch Tanner in his element again with his team. 

Mom and Dad and I arrived on Friday night and I picked up Marshall on Saturday morning. We enjoyed grabbing coffee in downtown Cedar Rapids before we were met up and Mom and Dad. 

We were able to get Mom and Dad to both games on Saturday and two games on Sunday as well. We enjoyed watching basketball (unfortunately, Iowa lost) on Saturday night as well as a sushi dinner and playing a game of Pitch. Tanner stayed with us which was a treat. Both days were quite windy, but thanks to Mom's packing, we all survived with blankets, chairs, coats and gloves. 

Our flight was delayed, but we were able to enjoy some beers, food and Yahtzee at Big Grove Brewing which was a fun way to wrap up our trip. I'm so glad that the weekend worked out. 

Sweet 16

My trip to Nebraska worked out so well with the Nebraska basketball game in the Sweet 16. The bad news? The game was against Iowa. I was able to watch the (better) first half with my parents and then headed over to Jaima and Cam's to watch the second half. Unfortunately, the Huskers could not pull out the victory. But, what a wonderful year watching basketball this season and especially Husker and Miami basketball. And finally a victory in the tournament!
