National Intern Day

It is quite fitting that Drake's last day at EY in Chicago was on National Intern Day. Yesterday the interns enjoyed a pickleball tourney, happy hour and a dinner cruise on Lake Michigan. What a great summer it has been for Drake - meeting new folks, exploring the city and learning about the working world. A few pics from his summer he shared with us. Super happy he had a great experience and super proud of his hard work to get this internship.

Caamp

 How wonderful that I got to go with Tanner to two outdoor concerts this summer at two different venues. Like last time, we booked last minute tickets and enjoyed dinner before heading down to the show. We learned that this is the largest crowd the band had played in front of and the lead singer choked up during the encore. Tanner knew several songs and I knew a couple. Given this was our last weekend with Tanner in Colorado before he heads to school, I felt fortunate to get him to myself for an entire summer evening. As we were listening to By and By and the lyric was "And this past year I got so much older," I leaned over to Tanner and told him that was very true for him. What a wonderful, young man he has become and what a privilege it is to be his Mom. 

A First and Last

 

GTM in Nashville

 I spent a few days in Nashville with the Snapdocs' Go To Market team. As usual, we were put in a nice boutique hotel, had learning sessions and enjoyed some good food and drink. Broadway certain has a party atmosphere and it was fun to check out the "scene" one night. Of course, the best part is being able to spend time with coworkers that I work with so closely, but don't get to spend time with on a regular basis.

Nashville (via Memphis)

A storm in Nashville meant a stopover in Memphis to get fuel..... Missed the welcome dinner - bummer. But had a nice morning and this came up in my feed today. So perfect. 

And this phrase hits home as we get ready to send Tanner off.....

Fulford

Marshall and I left early Friday morning and worked from casa de Smiley on Friday. We then headed to Glenwood Springs for dinner at the Pullman. We enjoyed walking around town a bit before and after dinner. 

We had a leisurely morning (I also went on a little hike) and then headed to the Smiley cabin in Fulford. We shot guns, threw knives, learned mahjong, enjoyed a delicious meal (including lime aid pie), enjoyed the fire and saw a moose. 

Our drive home had some traffic, but what a great getaway. 

Some Like It Hot

We attended our last show of the season on Thursday night with our neighbors. We had four tickets as we couldn't use two tickets for other shows given our schedule. So, we had Jen and Jim over for aperitivo after work and then went to the 7:30 show. 

I never saw the original version of the show so didn't know what to expect. This show was a reimagined version of the original story line with lots of laughs, messages of acceptance, fun sets and amazing dancing. And, it was a fun evening out with friends! 

Christmas in July

 We took a few minutes during the middle of the day this week to open the many packages we received as Tanner's preps for college. It was a nice break from our day and happy to see Tanner excited about his college items.

Chi-town

 It was a lovely long weekend exploring Drake's home for the summer. We worked. We ate. We did happy hour. We walked. We did touristy things. We spent time with friends. But mostly we enjoyed seeing our son and exploring some new parts of the city with him. What a great city. 

Highlights included deep dip pizza and a drink at the historic hotel bar with a couple of Drake's friends; architectural boat tour; biking along Lake Michigan; a nice meal on Saturday night, and seeing Marshall's high school friend and his wife on Sunday. A good trial run for our "work from______" life we hope to continue.
