The Move In

Marshall flew out Friday night to help Drake finish moving in. I had ordered some items to Target to take advantage of a 20% coupon and hopefully help from afar a bit. They returned some things immediately and then did some more shopping at Target and Home Depot. Drake had secured a bed, desk and dresser which was great. 

Because Marshall came after the mad rush of move in day, he was able to stay in Oxford and it sounds like they enjoyed wings, pizza and Cincinnati chili. 

We’ve got a few more things ordered, but the room is coming together nicely. And I know Drake will remember when his Dad came to help him get all moved in and how much it helped.

BOCO Triathlon

A full day for me as I try to pretend summer is not winding down for the year. I played pickle ball with some friends in the morning, Tanner and I played 18 holes of disc golf (I’m definitely getting better) and then attended the last night of music in the park on Saturday night.

He’s Gone Too!

Matthew was here for just two nights before he headed back to Europe. He’s been in the states quite awhile and had a lot going on (hello BeidgeTech co-owner!) so I’m sure he is ready to be home. 

Matt was able to say goodbye to Drake, go to trivia with the boys and have breakfast with Tanner on his departure date.  

It’s always so great to have Matthew here. When we were at the pool, I sat back as Marshall and Matthew chatted and Drake and Tanner chatted while messing around in the pool. I hope that our boys have as great a relationship as Marshall and his brother have as they grow older.

And He’s Off!

And just like that, Drake is headed back to Oxford to get ready for his sophomore year. Like the rest of the summer, his last day in Colorado was busy. 

He worked the morning shift at the golf course before playing nine holes with his Miami friend from Colorado Springs and two of their friends that go to CU. 

He came home to pack a bit and we even got in some family time at the pool before he headed out to Mod Pizza with a friend from Monarch. 

I shed a few tears saying good night last night and thanked him for making the house full again this summer. We will all miss him, but know he had a great  sophomore year ahead of him.

Belated Birthday Dinner

At times, it felt like this summer was creeping by. And then I realize we are trying to squeeze in my family birthday dinner at the end if August before Drake heads back to college and realize it has been a busy summer. Between various jobs, trips, practices and other commitments, it was not easy to find the time. 

But, we did and it was wonderful. We chose 740 Front which is in Louisville and neither boy had been there. We covered a variety of topics during dinner - from cuts of steak to LQBTQ2+ and talked about highlights of our summer  - Tanner even put his phone on silent. They all even humored me after dinner and walked through downtown Louisville with me. 

I had been warned that having your kid back from college could be a difficult transition, but it truly has been wonderful to have all four of us under one roof for the summer. I can’t think of a better way to wrap up the unofficial end of summer. Here’s to the next 50 years!

After the crazy week, Marshall and I opted to walk over to the pool for Friday night happy hour. At the last minute, I put the speaker in the bag and Marshall said if there are a lot of people, we may not be able to play it. As you can see, that was not a problem. 

And a bonus that Drake got off work early and joined us for pizza. 

What a Week

Like me, the unofficial end of summer is not pleased. With a sprinkler pipe breaking and flooding the basement while we were in Minneapolis, to Drake having a bigger surgery than we thought, me traveling for work, Marshall having a busy work week and Tanner starting school, it had been a bit chaotic (mostly for Marshall). I am so thankful for having such a great partner through all of this crazy. 

Even through all the crazy, the Peavy men got in a bit of fun. They were able to all watch the “new” Avatar movie one night and went to “Wing Wednesday” at the local tap house another night. And Drake felt well enough on Wednesday to go disc golfing with Tanner.

Brooklyn Baby

A quick trip to Brooklyn for a leadership team meeting took me away from home at the beginning of this week. We stayed in Brooklyn as my boss lives there so we were able to see a part of New York I am less familiar with. 

The weather was not too hot surprisingly which was nice as we did a fair bit of walking. We did some good work, had some fun and got to know each other better. Win. Win. Win.
