The Small Things

Back to school has been an adjustment for all of us - more activities to manage, longer days and a big change in routine. 

T-man was doing homework outside after dinner one night and I was just so happy to have him have a physical PAPER he was filling out. These are things that did not happen during online school. 

We’ve also been enjoying all of our meals outside - and sometimes D-man is even around to eat with us. It definitely is a “real” school year so far. 

And here’s a pic of D-man driving to the CU campus for his first day of college courses (he missed Monday due to golf). 

He and Marshall went to campus on Saturday and figured out where the classes were located, where to park, etc. it was a successful first day. Super proud of both boys and how they are tackling these new situations for this is how you learn and grow. 

The Ups and Downs and Ups

This week, I found out that my company will not be opening a Denver office at the beginning of 2022. At the earliest, they are looking at the second half of next year. 

Well, that menas Marshall has a full time coworker for longer than expected. There are certainly ups and downs to our situation. I would definitely say there are more ups than downs for sure.

The Beginning of the Lasts

Today was the last first day of school for D-man. He enjoyed bagels with his girlfriend and doughnuts with his friends and bro to start the day. 

It was bittersweet sending them off to school today. I’m so glad they are attending in person, but will miss them after having them around so much last year. 

And, for our eldest, I hope this is the beginning to a great year ahead and that you know you always have a home here with us. I’m not sure where the last 12 years have gone and I’m not sure how we got here, but I hope that he has felt the love and support throughout the ups and downs. We love you son.

High Schoolers

It was a quiet house today with both boys off for high school. They rode together to get doughnuts at a friend of D-man’s house. Love that D-man was completely willing to take T-man and that they got to ride together on their first day.

One Last Summer Day

And it was a busy one for D-man. He started the day off with sunrise breakfast for seniors at the high school. Next, he tried to get some SAT studying done and he even joined me on my walk around the block. Marshall then helped him figure out his schedule and contacting CU. He then took off to play in a scramble for Monarch at Coal Creek. Here’s hoping his senior year is a great one.

Coyote Day

Freshman students reported to school today for Coyote Day. They had the school to themselves to do some team building, figure out their classroom locations and enjoyed pizza and Sweet Cow ice cream. 

It sounded like a pretty good day - bring on high school!

Brother

During the last few weeks, the boys have been busy going their separate ways. Last night, I was sorting clothes in T-man’s room and he came up to try on some clothes. D-man soon followed so we could outline an SAT study plan. Soon, the boys were playing with a maze game in T-man’s room. It wanted my heart to see them together. 

And today, I took a lunch break and took the boys for lunch and ice cream. We chatted about the boys’ schedules and big brother giving little brother advice on where to go. D-man was bummed to not make the golf tourney today, but glad to have this time together with my boys today - even for a short bit. 

I always think of the boys when I here this song. May they always be there for each other.

Cousin Camp

T-man visited the Marshall’s in Minnesota last week and watch led the older boys for a few days. He worked hard. He played hard. He traveled alone for the first time. He learned the true meaning of down time. He was the first person n the Peavy family to see the new kitchen and also go to their cabin. 

Jacki had such nice things to say about him and I’m very proud of him for so many reasons. Here’a a summary of the visit. 

Special Olympics Volunteer

I spent Saturday volunteer for the state cycling championship meet for YMSL. Neither of the boys could join me so I was thankful that the Wrights were able to be there as well. This would have been an event the boys would have liked, but I was glad to get these hours in (D-man did get some good hours in at the Boulder Ironman). We helped with some basic set up, cheering on the racers and timing the races. A nice day serving this community.

Weekend Shenanigans

We’ve been busy taking in everything Louisville has to offer in the summer. We played couple’s league on Friday night and finished in a 3-way tie for second. We were out of the Komi ey based on the tie breaker, but we were super proud with our 3-under showing and we all played well. 

Our Saturday night, we headed over to a neighbor’s for appetizers and drinks before heading out to the silent disco downtown. We hada really fun time and we met some new folks and fun to do something different. And with a kidless house on Saturday night, we made the most of it!

Golf Team!

D-man had golf tryouts this week and also played in a tournament outside of Colorado Springs. Needless to say, it was a busy week. He wrapped up the tryouts with a 79 and is on the team. We went out to dinner downtown to celebrate. D-man chose Zucca’s and we enjoyed a lovely meal and some music during dinner as well. Here’s to a start of a great Senior year.

Camp Peavy

T-man headed to Minneapolis on Monday to watch the Marshall boys for the week. He few alone in Southwest and was birth nervous and excited to do so. 

We went shopping on Saturday for gifts and activities to take along. It was a fun mother/son outing and so proud of him for taking on this activity. He’s already talked his hosts down for his rate - will work on the Bain skills. Of course, his reason that he didn’t want to get that much more year because “It’s fun for me too.” Can’t argue with that. 

Back Home

We had an awesome time on all of our travels and spending time with family, but we are happy to be home. The boys have spent time with friends, D-man has worked and golfed and Marshall and I have kept busy with local activities and friends.
