Weekend Project

 Tanner spent all of Saturday on a project to soup up the minivan. He had friends helping him procure the materials and ensure it was set up properly (gotta have a fuse installed as to not blow up the battery). He spent the evening hours in the garage getting the lighting all installed. There are many different light choices including a rainbow choice. Looking forward to an evening ride soon. 

Team Midwest

Drake traveled to Champaign, Illinois for the Team Midwest water ski conference. he was appointed head of the operations committee for the region and got to experience another college town. Love that he has this group! 

23 Years

It was a wonderful weekend celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary. I started the weekend treating myself to a long overdue mani/pedi. Marshall and I decided to ask people out for drinks on our actual anniversary so we went to dinner on Friday night. 

We headed to a seafood restaurant in Westminster we like and had a fun meal and drinks. On Saturday, we had an entire day together and I was reminded why I married this man. We had a relaxing morning, then shopped for appliances, went on a hike and grabbed Snarf's for a late lunch. 

We had about a dozen folks join us at Bambei brewing to toast our twenty-three years of wedded bliss. I told Marshall that one reason it's fun to get people together is that we get to talk about how we met, our first date, our wedding day, etc. Here's to 23 more years of laughs and love. 

Local Date

Monarch High won their state playoff basketball game on Wednesday night. It was a close game and the crowd was really into it. We saw some friends and neighbors - another reason to love our community. It's not the same as a small town rallying behind the school team, but it certainly is a community. 

We then headed to Old Santa Fe for an impromptu dinner date.

Winter Park is not a small resort, but we met people from Louisville on the bus and the townhome next to us was rented to people from Louisville. One thing we enjoy about WP is that it is not overrun with tourists and lots of folks on the lifts with us this weekend were from Denver. 

We enjoyed another long weekend in Winter Park with the Bivrell and Wright families. We didn't go up until Saturday morning and left in Tuesday afternoon so we had four days of skiing and no traffic coming or going. 

We played games, did some hot tubbing and watched some movies. The boys had some foosball battles and worked on some sledding runs. 

We got in a lot of skiing as the lines were not bad at all for a holiday weekend. Monday and Tuesday were especially great and a couple bluebird days over the weekend as well. Thankful for the beautiful playground in our backyard. 

Commuting

Last week I took the bus down for a coworking day in Denver and then happy hour with an old coworker. while I wouldn't want to do it everyday, getting downtown more is fun. Now I gotta figure out a way to get Marshall down there too!

Bluebird Day

An easy drive up to Winter Park and a few hours of skiing before heading to our Airbnb. Marshall and I took some fun runs and found some great snow on a couple runs. Seventeen inches of snow in the last two days - what a treat. 

Water Ski Banquet

The annual Miami Water Ski banquet was held today on campus. Until this morning, I really didn't realize what an event it is for the team. Folks dress up. There was a bar rental before the event and a bar event afterwards. a busy day for Drake! 

The kids donate stuff and there was a live auction. Drake made an appointment at the Maker's space yesterday and put Miami water ski logos on t-shirts and also made stickers. They turned out pretty well and one of the shirts with a mug and some stickers went for $90. 

Valentine's Day Reflection

A Facebook reminder of past Valentine's Days 

Fortunately for Marshall, I did not make him try to remember what we have done ever Valentine's Day we have been together,l. I don't know that either of us can remember what wr did on our first Valentine's Day together, let alone all of them. 

As usual, we stayed in and cooked a delicious meal with a nice bottle of wine. We had happy hour in the basement first and played pool with Tanner. We then cooked filet mignon, lobster tails, asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. The food all turned out really well and we agreed it might be one of our better Valentine's Day meals. 

We then finished the wine and chatted in front of the fire. Most of the talk revolved around how fortunate we are and how the ups and downs of life really make you appreciate all we have. At the end of the night, Marshall said something to the affect of, "thanks for making a regular random holiday a really special day." ❤️

An impromptu ladies happy hour on Sunday was a welcome treat. So thankful for these women! 

Coworking Day

We have a stipend at Snapdocs for coworking spaces every month. We usually end up getting together once a. I think which has been great. I get to explore new spaces and see Denver in a different light. Today, I took the bus down, tried out a new spot and met a former coworker for happy hour at the end of the day. 

Thankful for the connections and opportunities this coworking perk brings. 

Day Date

 We turned our errands on Sunday into a little day date. We grabbed burritos, hot drinks and headed into Boulder to pick up some paint samples. We then went to Pearl Street and walked around before heading to the Spice Shop. 

It wasn't much, but it was fun. With the snowy weekend, we also did a lot of puzzling and finished our first 2000 piece puzzle tonight. Yay! 

 

Recruiting

 Tanner was featured on the MOHI Mix Instagram channel while recruiting for spring Ultimate Frisbee. 

The season started last week and the team got in all the practices thanks to 60 degree weather. With the snow that was dumped on Saturday, practice this week will be unlikely. 

Super proud of his dedication to the sport. Looking forward to this next season. 

Wishes from Afar

 It's hard not to have Drake here on his birthday, but it sounds like he had a good day and night celebrating. He had rush activities, got to the end of a country concert at Brick Street, hung with water skiing friends and celebrated with a bunch of friends after that. 

This memory popped up on Facebook yesterday and these always make me smile. Marshall made Cincinnati Chili as a shout out to Drake in Ohio. HBD Drake - we love you.
