The New and the Old

 A good first day in Pender for the boys. A new breakfast spot - Rosie’s and a trip to the golf course with walking down to Cubbie’s in between. They also went to a movie in Sioux City with the Geisert Girls in the evening. The night wrapped up with drinks at the Maul’s (for me and Mom and Dad) and time in the new hot tub for a few of us! 

Road Trippin’

Two negative COVID tests mean we could make the trip to Nebraska (yay). D-man stated it would be a horrible week if he wasn’t able to go to Nebraska. 

We had three different drivers on our trip this year. We had our typical stops - Runza and gas and were fueled by sunflower seeds, airheads and hot tamales. 

We played guess the Disney song and the boys laughed a lot playing Mario songs and guessing the scene. This is what a road trip should be.

MU Orientation

We successfully navigated our 48 hours for college orientation. We flew in Thursday evening and arrived at the dorms around 10:30 after a stop at Skyline chili. With the sun setting after 9:00, we enjoyed daylight most of the drive. 

We didn’t need to be at orientation until 10:00 so we walked from the dorm up to The Bagel Deli for breakfast and ate it on campus. We then spent the day learning about transitioning to college, figuring out class schedules and eating at the dining hall. In the evening, the students had activities and the adults fended for themselves. 

On Saturday, the students met their orientation teams at 7:00 and spent the morning doing activities and registering for classes. I picked up a few things at Walmart and grabbed coffee at Starbucks before attending a few sessions about residential life, the career center and the learning center. 

It was a good event and provided an opportunity to see more of the campus and meet a few students and accomplishment course registration! 

Other than D-man feeling under the weather when he woke up Saturday morning and some frustration with his course schedule, it was a success.

The Longest Day of the Year

D-man off paddle boarding and Marshall golfing so T-man and I had dinner outside, hung in the backyard (him with a frisbee and me weeding) and then played some cribbage. I told hiM he could not spend the gorgeous evening in the basement!
