Lax Rivalry

Friday night was a rivalry against Fairview on a very blustery night. Fortunately, we were protected by a fence for most of the game, but it still wasn’t pleasant. 

With a 20 minute delay due to the lights going out and then having the sprinklers turn on while sitting in the grass, you can say it was not a fun game to attend. But, Monarch came away with the victory and D-man had a good game.

Suite Living

Another week has started and there journey continues. We went over to old neighbors who lost their home and bought a house in Boulder. It was nice to spend time with them and have Marshall show them how to make bread. What we are going through is painful, but it is still hard to imagine the trauma they have experienced on a completely different level. 

We spent the weekend shopping and running errands in between time with friends. T-man got some good driving hours in and D-man worked a lot of hours at the course. I’m amazed at the resilience each of us is and when one is down, we lift each other up.

Home of the Eagles

Many (most?) of the kids on D-man’s lacrosse team go to Broomfield High School. With other sports, Broomfield is a rival, but in lacrosse, they are teammates. 

All the home games for the team are played at MOHI, but today the team had a home game at the Broomfield field (the lacrosse lines were just added yesterday). And to add to the excitement, there are kids that attend Broomfield that play for Mountain Range (tonight’s opponent). 

It was the biggest crowd of the season and it was another exciting game. This team will pull ahead, but cannot seem to finish out games. They pulled ahead early in the third quarter tonight, but ended up only winning by one. It was a good win for the team and it meant a lot to the Broomfield kids to have a victory at home.

With T-man at a friend’s house, Marshall and I had a date night at a place I had wanted to try for some time - it was sooooo good! 

Home(wood) Suites Home

We are now in our 7th temporary housing situations since the fire (and that doesn’t count other places we have stayed due to work travel, college visits, ski trips, etc.). Our ability to go with the flow has served us well this winter/spring. 

The contents people showed up on Thursday and Friday and will come back Monday to so the garage. There are basically three things being done: cleaning what they can onsite (cabinets, tables, dishes, desks, etc.), trashing things they can’t clean (wicker, dense soft goods like couches and chairs, artificial plants like Christmas trees and things too time consuming to clean like toys, board games, etc.) and then items to be cleaned off site (drapes, sleeping bags, golf bags, etc). 

Definitely a day by day situation. But this is certainly the nicest hotel we have stayed in (3 rooms and oriented in November).

Get out the Vote

Tuesday was a special election in Louisville about a development site up by the high school that has been vacate for several years. It has been a controversial topics for some time. The city council finally approved plans, but private citizens got enough signatures that they have now put it to a public vote.

It did not pass and the develop will have to go back to the drawing board. Each of us in the Peavy household were torn about the issue - many good arguments in both sides. One thing I am grateful for is that because of this special election, there individuals in the house were able to vote together (at our dining room table of course). I specifically love that D-man sat down and got out his phone and researched the topic before casting his vote. ❤️

Spring Fling

What a treat we had with some amazing spring skiing in Copper this weekend. We knew the mountain had a ton of snow last week so we’re hoping for decent conditions. You never know what you will get when skiing in April…… 

Three of us headed up around 5:00 on Friday after school/work and met our hosts at a brewery in Idaho Springs for dinner and enjoyed a casual night at the condo the rest of the evening. We had a nice breakfast and got up on the mountain around 10:30 on Saturday. As long as we stayed on top of the mountain, we had really nice snow. And as expected, no lines at all! We came back and had a late lunch and enjoyed happy hour at the hot tub. D-man joined us Saturday evening and we all crashed early after a full day (and getting candy hidden). 

Sunday morning brought candy hunting and breakfast. We had a surprise snow storm and found amazing powder in the top of the mountain. We skied hard and Copper might be my new favorite ski mountain in Colorado. We tried so many new places and just had a great time. 

We came back to the condo for late lunch and the boys and I were able to enjoy the hot tub before packing up and hitting the road around 5:00. No traffic meant we were home in plenty of time to get ready for the week. It felt like a truly extended weekend - how fortunate are we????
