A New Car!

Okay, not really, but when T-man got in the car, he asked if it was new. These pictures don't do it justice, but it looks (and smells like a new car).

Tonight ended up being a nice fall evening to watch T-man and his Titans under the lights. it was a fun game and nice to see T-man having so much fun playing. 

We wrapped up the night with takeout, a Husker victory, and (hopefully) a Coug victory.

Keep Your Head Up

On Wednesday, D-man's Monarch Mustangs took on the cross town rivals - the Louisville Pirates - for the Coal Car Trophy. Unfortunately, the Mustangs lost and when we got home D-man told us he blacked out on a tackle (the one I were I said "head up D-man" to myself). Of course, he didn't tell anyone and played the rest of the game.  

Fortunately, Nana and Pop were here to be home with him the last couple of days. I'm very glad he told us and glad we went to the Dr. to have her talk about how serious having a concussion is and also relieved to have a process to "return to play." If I look for a silver lining, he told me and Mom separately that he doesn't want to play high school football. In the meantime, head up son. I love you. 

Watch DOGS

Marshall and T-man went to a an event for Watch DOGS (Dads of good students) which works to get more male presence in schools. They had pizza and did a scavenger hunt. LOVE these pictures of my guys. 

Weekend Wrap Up

It is amazing to have some time back in our weekends. I feel like I actually have time to do some stuff around the house and also have some down time as well. The rainy, cold weather might have helped too - I wasnt going anywhere so more basement sorting and fall decorating to be done!

Friday night started off with a flag football victory and dinner out at the local bar and grill (two failed attempts in downtown Louisville ended us at Mudrocks so T-man could play some pool). D-man hung at a friend's house all night. After a relaxing morning, Saturday saw two goals for T-man and volunteer hours for D-man at the local band competition. After being completely soaked, D-man warmed up and headed to his basketball double header in Lakewood. Marshall and I watched the Buffs get destroyed after we had cheered our other teams to victory. 

The house was quiet until almost 10:00 on Sunday which meant I finished my book listening to jazz music and drinking coffee. I worked more on the basement organization and T-man accompanied me on my errands (which meant a stop at Sweet Cow). It was a nice day date. D-man went to the mall with a friend - a first! We also had lots of baritone playing. And now, another week is upon us. Goodbye weekend.

While my recent scores have not shown it (I've blown up on a couple holes each round), I'm definitely improving my game. Until the last two holes, I was having a pretty good round. It was a gorgeous night to be out golfing 🏌 

So glad I convinced Alana to join!

Willard Evening

I had a fun night tonight catching up with Nebraska women and eating a Nebraska themed potluck. I rode down with Alyssa to Parker (took awhile to get down there thanks to Broncos traffic). When I went to put my scotcheroos in the back seat of the car, we had the same casserole dishes. Definitely Nebraska. And definitely nice to catch up with old friends.

T-man is off to a great fall sport season. He had a hat trick in soccer last weekend and an amazing interception in flag football last night. He had several attempts on goal today, but didn't score. So proud of how hard he is working! 

He also had field day at school this week and dressed up to support his mama today(although we dmneeded more than that).

Mustangs Win!

A nice first victory for the 8th grade football team on Wednesday afternoon. In the 5th quarter (extra time after the game to get more kids playing time), D-man was quarterback and had two nice passes. He was also called out in the weekly school newsletter for his play.

This was our 3rd couple's scramble and we placed in this one as well! I'm that much closer to a new driver with all our winnings - woohoo! Marshall's college friend came up with his fiancé and we shot a 31 which was good for 2nd place. After dinner, we went into downtown for drink at Por. Was a really fun night and nice to show them a bit of our life  here in Louisville.

Uncle Mike

Yesterday we celebrated the life of my Uncle Mike. I drove up from Indianapolis on Friday night and we had a nice time on Friday night with the family.  It was a beautiful fall-like day on Crooked Lake in Northern Michigan Saturday.  We laughed, we cried, and we toasted a very kind man. One story that was consistent throughout the day is what a sincerely nice man Uncle Mike was. Even at the end of his life where he was very sick, he said he was not suffering - the people of Syria are suffering. What an amazing perspective from an amazing man.

Boys of Fall

Sports season kicked off rhis weekend with  two football games. D-man's middle school football had their debut and T-man had his Friday nights light experience.  Sad to not be there, but know the PV boys are holding down the fort just fine without me. Hello fall.

Beaver Creek Oktoberfest

A really nice day of true vacation. We enjoyed breakfast here and just relaxing (I read an entire magazine!). The boys played hours of pool and ping pong. Marshall and I went on a hike. After a casual hike, we met friends in Beaver Creek for games, food, music, and catching up. We hung out in the village after Oktoberfest was over and enjoyed take out pizza and just being with friends we hadn't seen in some time. The boys finally warmed up to the girls just as we were leaving - of course.

Lunch at the Pool

A bunch of ladies got together at the pool again this Friday for lunch. This time we celebrated Alana's birthday. A break from work, no kids around, and time with friends to kick off the long weekend - I feel extremely lucky. 

Deciding not to leave meant that we also got to watch CU beat CSU. A good way to kick off the weekend.
