All Hallow’s Eve

Another Louisville Halloween is in the books for the Peavy family. We started the evening over on Spyglass for pizza, socializing, and drinks. The kids headed our very early for trick or treating (which works our just fine as they are home earlier). The men hung out and I headed home to hand out candy and catch up with a couple friends. AaaD-man was home sick for day 4 - poor guy. 

Halloween always reminds me of buying our house and trick or treating with the woman we bought our house from. Funny story from today? My coworker was on a call with me for almost an hour before he realized that my outfit was a Halloween costume (which I only wore because I didn’t want to do my hair). Ha!

Geisert Family Visits Colorado!

It was so nice to have Jaima and her kids visit for the weekend. We even let the boys skip school on Friday (which they were begging for but couldn’t believe that I said yes). 

D-man and I picked up the Geiserts on Thursday night and the kids just all chilled while the adults caught up. On Friday morning, Jaima and I enjoyed catching up while the kids slept in and went to breakfast over at Sweet Spot. We headed to the mall as Jaima needed to do a bit of shopping. We also grabbed lunch and the kids did the Escape Room. 

After relaxing a bit at home, we headed to downtown Louisville and hit Gravity for happy hour, Lucky Pie for dinner, Tilt for arcade games and then Sweet Cow for ice cream. It was a fun night out. 

On Saturday, we all headed to Boulder to watch T-Man’s soccer game and then went to Snarf’s (a local Boulder sandwich shop) for lunch. Then we headed up into the foothills for a hike. The weather was absolutely perfect - not too hot or cold. It made me happy that two of the Geisert kids said the hike was their cherry for the day. 

When we came back, T-man and his “twin” biked to Tilt and Sweet Cow and the other kids hung out here (after a failed attempt at going to a movie).  It ended up working out and we just all hung here for the evening, playing some games, watching football and having tacos. 

It was so special to have them visit us in Louisville and just spend time together. Thanks for coming Geiserts!

Pumpkin Patch Traditions

We had beautiful fall weather for our annual pumpkin patch trip. The boys completed two corn mazes and Claudia, Marshall and I completed one. We then headed to pick out our pumpkins. The sun shining on the pumpkins was really a sight to see. And we were able to find some pumpkins that weren’t damaged by the freeze. 

It’s so nice to be able to enjoy these activities right after school and not deal with the weekend crowds. It was also a special treat that Claudia and Marshall came with us this year. D-man was just happy we got our pumpkins before Halloween. And I’m just happy the boys still want to go. 

Claudia has actually been to this pumpkin patch many years ago when we were still in the old house. We think it might have only been with D-man. Lots has changed since then, but not our annual pilgrimage to the pumpkin patch.

1:1 Time

A 70-degree day in late October is one of those things you need to take advantage of - and each of us did in our own way after having a nice breakfast prepared by Marshall. Marshall and Claudia has some 1:1 time and went on a hike. T-man went to lax practice while D-man and I shot hoops and did some yard work. It was nice to just hang and chat with him 1:1. When T-man and I headed to Barnes and Noble to do some book shopping, D-man headed over to the golf course to hang with his friend (and he sported a Coug shirt, hat, and bandana to talk smack as his friend is an Oregon fan).  T-man and I got a cookie and a Frappuccino before heading to do a bit of clothes shopping for him. He didn’t want me to buy some things because they were so expensive. A good lesson that things aren’t cheap. And just some nice time alone together. 

I took a bike ride around town to enjoy more of the day and some of us played Ticket to Ride before a really yummy brisket dinner and homework. Now back to reality we go.

A Perfect Day

Sometimes things just work out. The schedules, the team victories and the stars align. Today was one of those rare days for us. 

We got up early and watched College Gameday being hosted from Pullman (which made me teary-eyed). After watching Lee Corso don the Cougar headgear, then we headed immediately to T-man’s soccer game where he scored the team’s first goal en route to a 5-2 victory on a beautiful fall day. He said it’s fun to score the first goal because everyone is so excited. He played really hard and so fun to have Claudia there to cheer him on. 

Claudia and I then took a nice walk before we watched Nebraska earm their first win of the Scott Frost era (which got a little scary in the 2nd half). But, we pulled out a victory! 

T-man headed to zombie paintball in the evening with some friends and the rest of us watched the Cougs beat Oregon.  It was a route in the first half, but the Ducks came within seven in the 4th quarter.  A final touchdown drive by the Cougs brought all of us in the house on our feet and sealed the victory. According to Marshall, a top five day for him as a Cougar. 

D-man basically stayed in one spot all day taking in all that college football has to offer - tradition, loyalty, ups and downs, and fortunately for us today, a couple of victories (we won’t talk about Marshall’s Buffs).

We were all up early this morning to watch college gameday in Pullman. So special for all of us in this household that they are on the Palouse. Bummed that Claudia can’t be there, but fun to have her here.

Football Friday

Before T-man’s last flag football game of the season, we went down to Lulu’s for dinner before the game. Marshall and Claudia went to Gravity Brewery and shared a flight of beers while I took early to the game. It was a tough game, but they did end up scoring a touchdown. 

D-man went to the Monarch High game (and actually wore a pink boa for the “pink out”) and Monarch won! Because I was already downtown for T-man’s game and had to pick up D-man, another mom and I grabbed a drink downtown before pickup. So fun! 

Monarch Boys Golf Banquet

There was a nice end of the season celebration tonight for Monarch Boys Golf. The coaches spoke, the captains spoke, the golfers were recognized, and the seniors gave their favorite moments and words of wisdom for the younger boys. It was a nice evening and we are so glad that D-man joined the team. 

24-Hour Road Trip

We headed to Colorado Springs Friday after work to stay with Will and Sabrina. The boys didn’t have school on Friday so I picked D-man up at a friends and we headed to Denver to pick up Marshall. We stopped at Union Station to use the restrooms and I realized the boys hadn’t been there since it had been redone. Mental note - we need to take them downtown more often!! 

We enjoyed catching up with the Browns and had good food and drink on Friday night. On Saturday, we slept in, the boys took a ride in Will’s Camaro, and did a little pellet gun shooting. 

We watched T-man’s team come from behind 0-2 to win 4-2 on an absolute stellar fall day. We made it back to Louisville in time for a couple errands, a walk for me, and getting the yard ready for 20-degree weather. Crazy Colorado weather.
