Heart of YMSL

 On Sunday, Tanner and I had our last YMSL event - the banquet. It was held at the University of  Colorado Student Union with pizza, pool and bowling. 

They put on a really nice event with a couple nice videos (one that honored the seniors) and also presented out awards for the year. 

Tanner was selected for the Senior "Heart of YMSL" award (the only non-service hours award given). He has now received this two times which speaks to kindness, willingness to help out when needed and good attitude. I'm so proud of him for earning this award. 

YMSL certainly has its challenges (meetings), but the volunteering and being able to spend time with each of my sons was worth it. 

They wrapped up the event with a bowling tournament with  prizes for the winning mom/son combo for each grade. Alana and Benji were the only other seniors to sign up and Tanner and I combined for a 284 to win the prize. We talked about sometimes you win just by showing up (and having a mom that bowled 150 something). 😉

We planned to only bowl one game, but the boys wanted to bowl again and what moms are going to say no to their senior sons wanting to spend more time with them?

European Adventures

Drake and I enjoyed a nice chat this morning while I enjoyed coffee on the front porch and he walked around Prague. It is quite incredible to think about all the places he has seen in the last 3 months. It's also crazy to think that he is about to come home in a couple of weeks. Sharing a few of the pictures he has shared with us. I'm so glad he had this opportunity and took full advantage to see as much as possible. 

Crafty?

NOPE!  Trying to execute on a gift for the Mohi ultimate seniors...... well - I tried. And yes, letters have been ordered from Etsy. 

Aperitivo

Marshall had a great idea to host an aperitivo party and we had a fun night hosting friends. Aperol Spritz, aperitivo snacks, bruschetta and cannolis made for a pretty great spread. We even put a picture of the Grand Canal on the TV to pretend we were in Italy. Ha. We got to talk about a trip with folks and relive some of the memories which was wonderful. A fun evening doing something different and it was fun to host in our "new" space.

We Have a Hawkeye!

Tanner "pushed the button" on Monday to officially join the University of Iowa class of 2029! We think this will be a great fit for Tanner and are excited for the next leg of his journey. The ultimate community, as well as the engineering school were very welcoming and the recruiter did a great job of making Tanner feel wanted. Iowa City seems to be a great college town which is also something Tanner was looking for. 

We've got his orientation scheduled already. Here's to new adventures and experiences. 

Tanner didn't have school Monday so we celebrated with lunch at Mod Pizza.

One Last Time

 Last night, Tanner told me I didn't have to hide any eggs. I had already told Marshall that I was planning on it, but then about lost my motivation on Saturday night. Marshall reminded me that I didn't need to hide them on Saturday night as Tanner would be sleeping in very late. GREAT! 

So, today after Marshall and I were both up, I put together a little basket ($$ had already been deposited in the bank account) and hid 10 eggs. 

Tanner got up around noon and humored me and found some eggs. He had trouble with three of them and he eventually found those after dinner. He put together the little Lego in his basket and Marshall and I have been enjoying a few of the Easter goodies as well. 

Easter has been been a huge tradition in our house, but I will miss this little ritual I am sure. 

The rest of the day was spent relaxing, doing some yard work and doing some cooking. I made a Spanish tortilla to serve with our salmon and asparagus - it was a pretty yummy meal! We even ate in the dining room two nights in a row!

Prom #2

Tanner was fortunate enough to attend his second prom of the season this Saturday. It was a much more planned event - with a limo and nice dinner. This prom had more dancing apparently and post prom was at Boondocks. How nice he was able to have another prom experience. 

Tanner was able to wear his new suit from Italy this time and his date's yellow dress went really well with the blue suit. He looked pretty sharp!
