Kalakau Hike

A bit of a stressful morning getting checked out of condo and packing up for the day's activities (walked to the beach with Drake when we got up). But, we did it and the day was incredible. We got on the 9:00 bus and parked Tanner at Ke'e Beach with chargers, towels, water and lunch.

The rest of us conquered the Kalakau Trail for 2 miles to Hanakāpī‘Ai Beach where we had our picnic lunch and waded in the stream and surf. We gained about 650 feet in elevation. It got a bit warm when we started the hike back, but we had plenty of water. It took us about 4 hours and we joined Tanner around 2:00 at the beach. We just all hung out in the water for a long while chatting, laughing and being together. It was a highlight of the trip for me. All together in a beautiful place just "being."

We headed out around 4:00. Stop for shave ice in Hanalei Grab Pizza in Kapa'a. Get to condo around 7:00. Look for sunset - not really one. Watched Moana - appropriate and fun movie for the trip. Busy, but good day.

Lu'au Kalamaku

After the boat tour, we grabbed shave ice and then chilled back at the condo with some F1, naps and relaxing. I walked around Princeville and then we got ready for the Lu'su (booked it last minute in the Oakland airport). The one I chose meant a lot of driving, but put options on dates were limited given the last minute booking. Even with the driving, the car rides have been full of conversation, singing and laughter. The boys singing "what a wonderful world" on the way back from the boat was a highlight (and lively discussions around songs had been entertaining).

The lu'au was a fun night and something Tanner could enjoy without too much walking (although walk from car was long). The food was fine, but the snow was really nice. We were home by 9:30 and headed to bed soon after. A long, full day of experiences.

Napali Coast

Up and at 'em early again on day two in the north shore for our Napali Coast boat tour. We grabbed breakfast (again) from Hanalei Bread Co while waiting for the shuttle to the boat.

Not much to say about the boat ride other than it was incredibly beautiful. Dolphins. Caves. Waterfalls. Green luscious coast lines. Crystal clear blue water. Beautiful beaches. So glad we went out of the north and got the see the entire coast line.  We enjoyed lunch and snorkeling at Tunnels Beach. Turtles and fish. Tanner was able to enjoy the ride and snorkeling. Gorgeous day to be on the water - sea sickness was worth it. I'm glad we got up and going for the morning tour. So much more time to enjoy the time on the island.

Warning: lots of photos.
