Five Lefts and Two Rights

And 15.5 hours later, and you arrive at the Idaho cabin. We got an hour later than we wanted, but made much better time than anticipated pulling in at 9:30 local time. We had three stops major stops and one rest stop in Idaho. 

The weather today was not supposed to be great but the boys both got in the water, we took the boat out and we busied ourselves with games and water toys all day. While we are not looking forward to working this week, there are worse places to be spending our days.

Breakfast Burritos, Hiking and Indian

Aka hopefully a good Dad’s Day for Marshall. We started off the day with breakfast burritos from a local place and grabbed doughnuts at Safeway before heading out on a nice hike outside of Boulder.  There was cloud cover all day which keep the temps cooler and perfect for the hike. We grabbed Snarfs after the hike and we all had a lazy afternoon at home. We did get in a couple games of pitch with the Geisert/Karlen contingent which worked out well if your last name was not Peavy. 

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to play corn hole (Marshall’s Father’s Day gift) due to an afternoon thunderstorm. Marshall and I made a new Indian recipe for a late dinner. And besides my trial and tribulations making ghee, it was a successful endeavor. 

We enjoyed opening a few more gifts to celebrate the amazing man and Dad Marshall is. We are so fortunate to have Marshall be a wonderful role model for our boys.

D-man Date

D-man and I volunteered on Wednesday at A Precious Child as part of our YMSL organization. When we looked up the location, we realized it was right next to a par 3 golf course and D-man suggested we go golfing after volunteering so we could have some time together. Sounded great to me! 

We sorted donations, help organize diapers and reorganized the toy display in the store. I was trying hard to channel my inner Jaima to pretty up the display.  Let’s just say it looked better than it did beforehand we will call it a win!

The course was in pretty rough shape and it was windy, but we had a nice time and were basically the only ones on the course. We topped off the evening by grabbing tacos from a local taco shop before heading home. What a great night!

After dinner and getting the yard ready for the demolition crew, T-man made a late night request to head to Valmont Bike Park in Boulder. It was late, but we headed out right before sunset. T-man had a REALLY nice time and wants to go back tomorrow.  Besides the bugs, it is a nice time of day to go because there is no one there and and it is cooler temperatures. 

I was able to get some walking laps in around the park while T-man tried out various areas of the park. What a great outing!

Geisert Girls

The female contingent of the Geisert household arrived Wednesday to spend a few days in Louisville. The kids entertained themselves while Jaima and I worked on Thursday and Friday. We headed up to Estes Park and did a hike on Saturday and walked around downtown Denver and drove around the DU campus on Sunday. In between, we enjoyed patio dining, time together and planning it house remodel (contractor comes to make a bid this week!). 

So glad they made the trip out!

The Great Outdoors

With summer here and some loosening on restrictions, there is a bit of normalcy returning. Being able to be outside and enjoy time with others, is such a wonderful thing. We’ve been able to enjoy an outdoor movie night, bike riding on the many paths around town, a BBQ, bocce ball and golf. Golfing certainly is the most freeing to me - it feels normal actually! 

It’s certainly not your typical summer, but I am happy to be working from home and getting to eat lunch with the boys. And limited options for the boys means more family time which I will take any day.
