Weekend Wrap Up

Even though we don’t have any activities, we seem to fill up the time. We spent a lovely Friday evening on the porch with our neighbors. We hadn’t seen them since we left for Idaho so we had some catching up to do. 

Saturday night was spent celebrating Alana’s birthday. We had a casual evening of take out Thai, conversation and time by the fire pit. So great to still be able to celebrate life’s special moments outdoors with friends. 

Saturday and Sunday were filled with errands and chores. T-man and I biked to the mall for (unsuccessful) shoe shop. I was surprised (and appalled) at the number of people not wearing masks even though it is required indoors. Our Sunday outing to the LEGO store and shoe shopping was much more successful and enjoyable. T-man was so surprised (and appreciative) when I purchased his LEGO for him. It made it even sweeter to do so. D-man and I had a YMSL zoom meeting on Sunday afternoon. As the boys don’t have “synchronous” learning on Mondays, Sunday evenings are a bit more relaxed.

More Memories

A couple great reminders of our Nebraska trip. 

First Day of (Online) School

Well we survived. That might have been because D-man only had one class and then was off to a golf meet so we had one less element to contend with. 

But, things are more organized and we are more ready. It is the new reality so we are going to make the best of it.  So as I told T-man, we are going to: 

• Have a good attitude 
• Work hard
• Try to have fun 

We have talked about switching up work spaces, getting outside during breaks and breaking things up. We’re learning! It won’t be easy for any of us, but here’s to the new year!

Home Town

A last minute trip to Pender to wrap up the summer was wonderful. There was a great deal of time spent on the porch - coffee, happy hour and dinners. The weather was absolutely perfect for enjoying the outdoor time. T-man was able to go shooting and also golfed 6 days! It was nice to be in Pender for a few days before school started so there was some quality cousin time. Jaima and I got in a round of golf and I also golfed two more times before leaving on Sunday. There was also picking sweet corn and enjoying time with friends of both Mom and Dad and Jaima and Cam. So glad we made the trip.

Staycation

While T-man and Marshall were on their backpacking trip, D-man and I enjoyed a staycation in Louisville. We had time out, time alone and time together. 

On Saturday, we both slept in and headed out for a late lunch. Going for a late lunch gets you immediate seating on the patio and fewer people. We talked about a variety of things and were in no rush which was lovely. We picked up our things at the Target drive through and D-man grabbed Cold Stone Creamery. 

We chilled at home for a bit before heading out for our 5:30 tee time. While our golf  left a bit to be desired, it was a nice evening out. We came home for dinner and several games of rummy cube (D-man won the best 2 out of 3 series we played over the weekend). We both the binge watched our TV shows until 2:00 am! 

Given the night before, we slept in Sunday and went to go get a late coffee/breakfast after a couple games of Rummy Cube. It was such a nice weekend having some 1:1 time and treating ourselves to a few outings. 

Strokiversary

Today I celebrated a year of being a stroke survivor. It sounds weird to say that, but it is true. While my life is not truly any different than before the stroke, many stroke victims are not so fortunate. So, today I celebrated. 

Work was the least hectic it has been since Covid started and I was even able to go out to lunch with D-man (Marshall and T-man are camping). We went downtown and sat outside on Main Street and talked about golf and the golf team. 

After work, I hosted a few friends for happy hour on the front porch to toast my journey over the last year. And I wrapped up the evening with dinner with D-man talking about sports again. 

Much to celebrate - ability to work, time with family, time with friends, a wonderful town, a nice home and of course, my health. 

A rainbow last night over the hospital spotted during my golf round which brought attention to the wonderful care I received

Golf Season is Here!

Golf is one of four Colorado sports that is happening this fall and the season kicked off this week. D-man participated in tryouts this week and had his first tournament today. The team placed 4th out of 13 teams. His hard work this summer paid off. While this will certainly be an abnormal school year, it is nice to have a bit of normalcy. Sko Yotes! 

Heaton Bay

While a bit stressful packing up the car and trying to get out of here, we had a great time camping in Dillon Lake. The campground is tucked between the lake and interstate so we didn’t know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was - a place right below our noses on the many trips we have made up I70. 

We enjoyed time around the campfire, time on the water (thanks to others in the group with water toys) and just bring away. T-man and I rode our bikes along the shore of the lake. And we all came home and laid around on Sunday because tent sleeping is not good sleeping.
