The Joy is in the Journey

We started our spring break trip to the southwest with a road trip to Santa Fe. We took the scenic route through the San Luis Valley (the largest high altitude desert in the US) and through Taos before arriving in Santa Fe (the oldest city that is a U.S. capital as it was settled in 1609-1610). D-man did the majority of the driving and we arrived at our destination around 5:30. 

We walked around the square when we got in and then again when it was dark to go pick up dinner. Marshall and I traveled to Santa Fe many years ago, but don’t remember it at all so it was fun to walk through the historic square and town with the boys. We saw the oldest public building in the United States and enjoyed the historic Spanish influence in the city. T-man commented how it reminded him of Spain. 

Marshall and I walked around in the morning before leaving and grabbed coffee/tea, a crepe and quiche at a cute French place before grabbing breakfast burritos on our way out of town. A good first stop for sure.
