Just Like his Mother
Today I attended D-man's Suessical the Musical show at his school. He was very excited to do the show and have me attend. D-man and his buddy were fish and when it was their part of the show, D-man was directing the kids holding the water. They were obviously not doing the right thing.

Morning Coffee
A slumber party for D-man meant no one getting out of bed before 9. T-man and I made hot cocoa and coffee, read books, and played music. And yes, a special morning means cookies for breakfast. What a great way to start of another gorgeous day in Denver.

Basketball Boys
The basketball season for both boys wrapped up at the end of February. While T-man got a bit discouraged early in the season, he came on strong at the end scoring baskets in the last two games. He was so proud and we were proud of him for his increased focus and sticking with it.
D-man's team wrapped up the season with a great last game (D-man had 6 points) and a family celebration after the game. D-man earned the award for "hardest worker." And if you know our eldest, there couldn't have been a more fitting award (he was a pretty great shot too!).

The Blessing of a Great Teacher
It is hard to believe that our time at Greenwood Plaza Montessori is coming to an end in the next few months as our youngest will be going to Kindergarten this fall. This week, the teacher that both our boys had when they were 2-3.5 years old, is celebrating her 24th year at the school. Here's what I submitted to have read during the celebration next week. Thinking about the wonderful experiences our family has had at this school literally brings tears to my eyes. I can only hope that we continue to be blessed with wonderful, caring educators like Ms. Pearl throughout the next phase of our lives.
Ms. Pearl spoke at the first parent education night we attended at Greenwood Village Montessori. Our son wasn't even close to transitioning to her age group, but after the session, I told Marshall, "that is the teacher I want for our son." She was so knowledgeable and I knew she would be a great teacher for our son. And after being fortunate to have two sons go through Ms. Pearl's classroom, I couldn't have been more right. As Marshall says, not only were our children educated by Ms. Pearl, so were we. With all the studies that show how important early childhood education is throughout a child's school life (to middle school and beyond), our family has been so fortunate to have had such a wonderful teacher. It is teachers like Ms. Pearl that have made my children love learning and make it easier (because it is NEVER easy) for a 2-parent working family to leave their children in the care of others. Thank you Ms. Pearl for the positive affect you have had on our children and our lives.

Better Late than Never

It Never Gets Old
While the whining and the tears on the first run would have gotten old, the rest of the ski day went pretty well. Perfect short runs for T-man. Some exploration of the mountain for D-man.
Even though it is a ton of work and it was very cold, it ended up being a nice day. And......watching the boys enjoy skiing. The amazing, breath-taking views. Time as a family. That never gets old.

Beautiful Beaver Creek
A long weekend for the boys meant a trip to the mountains for the family. After the Blue and Gold Cub Scout banquet on Friday and basketball on Saturday (where Tanner scored his first points of the season!), we headed to Eagle to spend a wonderful weekend with our good friends the Smiley's. As always, they were amazing hosts and we had a great time. While the snow was not the best and the crowds busier because of the holiday weekend, Sunday was a great first day of the season for all of the Peavy's. I enjoyed breaking in my new skis and boots and D-man enjoyed using poles for the first time.
Both boys were a bit disappointed that we were only able to ski one day this weekend. D-man wasn't thrilled about having to take a lesson, but we thought it best that his first time on the slopes this season was with a lesson. He did get to take a lift ride up with Marshall at the end of the day and ski down the mountain (Marshall said it was best he had seen D-man ski). T-man got after it and was able to take Marshall and me (separately) up the gondola and then lead the way back down the mountain. I could barely keep up with him - he was doing SO well. It was so much fun to watch him love skiing.
Marshall worked on Monday from Eagle, but the boys and I enjoyed a lazy morning, playing Xbox, and a trip to the pool with Rachel and the kids. The boys had a GREAT time playing together at the pool - it was special to see them playing so well together. We left Eagle around 4:30 and arrived home at 6:30 - no traffic at all! We made a quick dinner and enjoyed sharing our cherries (swimming, skiing, seeing friends) and pits (leaving). What a great way to spend the 3-day weekend as a family.

Buddy was Here
T-man has taken to calling my Dad "Buddy." It is adorable and it was a fun week as he (and Drake) anticipated the arrival of "his buddy" and Nana. Friday afternoon, D-man received his birthday present from Nana and Pop: a guitar. How special it has been to have him be so into it and learning from Nana (he woke up Saturday morning and went to the basement to practice!).
We enjoyed happy hour at Benihana's on Friday night - the boys sat for 2+ hours! My dear friend Nadja was also able join us which was great.
Saturday morning took us to two basketball games. T-man was fun to watch and D-man had 6 points and played a great game! Saturday was a lazy day of games, errands and a nice dinner in.
Marshall made a tasty breakfast on Sunday and after some hanging out at the house and puzzle time, we headed to Moe's BBQ for some bowling, beer, and BBQ. We lasted 1.5 games and should have quit when we were ahead after one game, but still fun.
After some more family time and old fashion "Words with Friends" (aka Scrabble), we wrapped up a great weekend with a second round of pitch. Unfortunately, the good guys lost the second round (the women). As always, the time goes so fast, but was so special.

Snow, Shoveling, and Sledding
Lots of snow means lots of shoveling followed by sledding. A great time enjoying all the beautiful snow.
Rock Bottom Brewery Birthday
This week, our big guy turned eight. While the weekend was full of celebrations with friends, this was our family celebration. According to D-man, he had a great day at school with some special things - leading yoga poses, having happy birthday sung to him at yoga, calling out people in math, etc. D-man enjoyed hanging out with our sitter after yoga. Maggie treated him to "Fro Yo" and D-man took advantage of the serve your ownn topping area.
After much consternation, D-man chose Rock Bottom Brewery for his birthday dinner. With make your own pizzas and sundaes (and some great microbrews for M&D), it was the perfect place. We came home and opened presents and wrapped up a special day celebrating our big guy. We love you!
