Today is the last official day of summer 2015 at the Peavy household. It's a bittersweet day as we'll be back to a regular schedule. Regular bedtimes, homework, and routine are starting again. Staying up way too late, sleeping in, and exciting travel adventures are on the bench.
I worked from home today, the boys slept in until around 9, and they each played with friends. T-man and I attended elementary school check-in - I was so proud of the way he introduced himself to his new teacher. He's very hesitant about 3rd grade and his writing and reading skills - I do hope it is a successful year. After picking up the last of the school supplies, Marshall and I headed to the pool for a cocktail with friends to toast the end of summer.
We returned home to the slow cooker corned beef that had been cooking all day and the end of the summer cherries and pits discussion around the dinner table. While our pits varied, the cruise and all the traveling we did were cherries for each of us. What a summer we have had.......
At the end of every summer, I'm reminded how lucky I am to work for a company like Return Path that allows me to work remotely, and the family that is willing to (and can) travel all over, sleep in several different beds, and see all different types of people. I'm thankful for family members that host us, feed us, and make us feel welcome. I'm thankful for experiences, not things.
This makes summer #4 that we have ventured out several weeks from Colorado. And every summer, I'm not sure if this will be the last one of our adventures. So, for now, I'll remember the amazing adventures of 2015 and hope for a wonderful school year ahead (and try to focus on the benefits of a schedule).
