A weekend away in the mountains during the summer is always a treat and we don’t do it nearly enough. A weekend in the mountains in the summer with dear friends and a free stay at the Ritz Carlton at Bachelor Gulch is even more special.
We kicked off the weekend with Pho in Avon and checking out the Smiley’s new business. And then, we headed to the hotel and had a great time enjoying cocktails outside, listening to music by the outdoor fire pit, and then wrapping up with snacks and catching up in the room.
On Saturday, we went to breakfast, hiked under the lift for treasure, went to the pool and the adults took turns enjoying time at the spa for massages and relaxation. Dave and Marshall really enjoyed the steam room, sauna, hot tub, cold pool circuit.
We enjoyed a cocktail at the bar before dinner at Buffalos. We ate way too much and also celebrated the birthdays in the group (me and Dave). We all hit the sack early as we were tired and full.
I was up earlier than Marshall and T-man on Sunday so I grabbed a coffee and took in some sun. Then we checked out and went for a late breakfast in Avon and headed to the GoPro games in Vail. On our way home, we hit a frisbee golf course in Dillon and T-man was in heaven. A good way to wrap up the weekend. D-man was at basketball camp and he is still talking Marshall’s ear off. When he heard we went to the Ritz, he said he would still have more fun at basketball camp. Yay!
And while the last few weeks have been difficult, it is not lost on me how fortunate we are and what a good life we live. It is always good to have a reminder.
