Valley Fair

On Tuesday, the boys and I ventured out to Valley Fair for a day of twists, turns, big drops, and spinning. It was a cool day and no crowds so we got in a lot of rides in the 5 hours we were there. While we got hit with a few rain showers, we had amazingly cool weather which was perfect for a day of rides (and we saved the water rides for last).

T-man liked the big swings, D-man liked the T-man couldn't go on and the boys convinced me to go on the Wild Thing roller coaster which was tons of fun! 

We listened to the 1st half of the USA/Belgium game on the radio and caught the rest of the game on TV. Unfortunately, us jumping up and down chanting "we believe that we will win!" didn't work.

A trip down to the lake for a picnic and treats! We caught a little bit of sun before  it got cloudy and windy. Really nice day.

The parade is always a fun time during alumni weekend. Big vehicles and lots of candy. 

Nebraska Part One

Good travelers means a good first few days in Nebraska. Weather has been great so the boys are enjoying being outside and playing with cousins. T-man loves "his new bike" and there is no trepidation this year about just taking off. D-man is slightly obsessed with fireworks. I'm happy to be "home" with family.

Life's a Beach

For living in Colorado, the Peavy boys have spent quite a few days on the water over the last couple of summers.

This week was no different. The boys spent the week at "water camp" at the Boulder Reservoir.  It's a bit of a drive, but Marshall helped with pick up and te boys liked this camp. 

Sailing. Pedal boats. SUP. Canoeing (which they road in together).  Kayak. Swimming. Good stuff.

A Louisville Institution

After a day at camp and a Lego event at the library, we decided to go out to dinner downtown. We had been meaning to try The Blue Parrot, a Louisville institution since 1919. On the menu, it billed itself as the oldest Italian place in Colorado (Louisville was settle by miners - many of them Italian). 

We were the youngest people in the place by several years (decades?). But, we can now check that downtown Louisvlle restaurant off our list.

Back From Camp

I picked up D-man at camp on Friday night. After closing ceremonies, we headed into Winter Park for happy hour and watching World Cup soccer. D-man gave me the rundown of his week and I'm happy to say he had a really nice time. He really liked rafting and was happy to have his extra blanket this year.

It's, of course, less quiet around now and we're happy to have him home.

Night on the Town

With a built-in babysitter for a couple of weeks, Marshall and I took advantage of it and hit downtown on Thursday night (T-man and Jessica enjoyed pizza at the pool). 

We ate downtown on the outdoor seating set up on Main Street at Waterloo. We then headed to the free concert in the park where we enjoyed some wine and Celtic music. It was a beautiful night to be out and enjoy summer in Lousiville.

All About Tans

It's a special week for us here with only one kiddo. T-man has stated several times that he is happy it is "Mom, Dad, and me." 

After Lego camp today, T-man and I headed to Sweet Cow as his camp is close to downtown. After that, we met Marshall at the movie theatre to see "How to Train Your Dragon 2." T-man enjoyed the reclining chairs and getting cherry Sprite and popcorn.

Camp Chief Ouray

Our eldest is off to overnight camp for 5 days. He was very excited and couldn't wait to get there and then have us leave! 

He's super excited to be back again and this time enjoying it with his old friend, Ian, from our old 'hood. He's definitely growing up.

Happy Father's Day

We celebrated Father's Day a day early on Saturday since we had to take D-man to camp in Sunday. The boys chose Buffalo Wild Wings since Marshall loves wings. We also thought we could take in some live World Cup soccer. While the soccer game was on, the audio was Ultimate Fighting Championship was on audio (and by contract has to be on Saturday nights). Despite the audio, we had a nice evening celebrating Marshall. 

And today, we got to try out the bacon bowl maker he boys picked out for Marshall. As Marshall says, "everything tastes better with bacon."

It was the last day of Rocky Mountain Day Camp, and the boys were all decked out for color wars and fighting for Team White! It was a tough couple of weeks for D-man socially, but he enjoyed the activities and survived. It was pretty cute to hear both boys singing the camp songs in the car.

Championship #2

Playing under the lights 

An exciting week of baseball for D-man this week. After having a bit of a batting slump this last month, D-man made up for it this week with several great hits (two triples this week), RBIs, and pitching all 3 playoff games. He also stole home on a pitch from the catcher back to the pitcher - a very gutsy play that resulted in a score! 

It was really exciting game - getting all tied up at 9 - before the Mariners ran away with a 18-9 victory! D-man was hoping to play under the lights and got his wish for about half of the game. 

Pretty cool to have D-man participating on 2 championship teams since moving here. What a treat. It was so fun to watch him excel and more importantly, have fun! Playing your best ball at the end of the season makes it that much sweeter.

Taste of Louisville

Marshall woke up early to partake in the "Taste of Louisville" 12k which was basically a tour throughout town. He finished the race in 1 hour and 7 minutes. It was a nice cool morning and then he enjoyed and free pizza and beer after the race. The boys came up with me to pick up Marshall and they were both so proud and congratulating Marshall. Congratulations Marshall!! 

Spirit Award

First day of summer break and camp. T-man earned a spirit award on the first day of camp! You get one for doing a good thing and he got two bull eyes during archery. 

D-man started summer break at home with strep throat.
