An Adventure to Paradise

One night in Bangkok (I don't have any pictures that can really represent the craziness) and then a long cab ride to the pier and a ferry to our resort landed us in a little slice of paradise. 

It's the rainy season and we drove through a few rain storm to get here, but we had beers on the beach and watched an amazing sunset.

Melting Pot

It appears the boys are getting along well without us. Soccer and football victories (and the Cougs and the Huskers won too). They topped off the weekend with lacrosse practice and a trip to the Melting Pot. 

Loved that they got out button down shirts for their night out! Miss them and Mom and Dad, but glad they are making memories together.

Week 3 of lacrosse skills practice. Boys are learning a lot (as we are). Pretty gorgeous venue. 

American Ninja Warriors

As if getting new carpet installed, an away football game (victorious), and a soccer game (defeat) were not enough today, Marshall and D-man went to the Buff game and T-man went to open gym at the Apex. He had a great time testing out his American Ninja Warrior skills. 

Wrapped up the day with dinner on the deck and the Husker football game.

Dumbing Down America

On Thursday night, I attended a talk called "Dumbing Down America." The author of the book by the same title gave the talk. It is a topic that speaks to my heart. The following description of giftedness really hit home. 

Basically, there are many systemic things working against gifted education (which makes me extremely sad and frustrated), but I was motivated to reach out to our principal after this chat to figure out what the parent community at our school can do. There are power in numbers and I hope I can at least start to make a difference at the local level for our son and others like him. 

The Joy of Reading

We've had a break through with T-man this week! After reading before bed one night, he said, "I like reading." And he wanted to keep reading!  This has continued all week and tonight we find ourselves at te library where he is choosing to read - not play the computer! What a great feeling this week. 

Summer Send Off

A last minute swim trip on the last day of the pool. No lifeguard = jumping off the lifeguard chair. Adios summer - we will miss you. 

Concert in the Gardens

Last minute invite to see St. Vincent at the Denver Botanic Gardens. Gorgeous night in a gorgeous venue. Really looking forward to visiting the Chihuly exhibit soon! 

Super Saturday

It was a foggy, chilly start to the day, but it was a super Saturday for the Peavy family. It started with a victory for the "Wolverines" in the new Louiville Recreation Soccer League. He boys played a GREAT game and won 3-2! It was great to see T-man so into it.

We then headed to Westminster to watch the Louisville Pirates take on Hyland Hills. It was a fun game for the boys and D-man had a fumble recovery! The game ended early because of he mercy rule. It was a "white out" game and we fully participated! 

We celebrated with lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings and watched the Huskers squeak out a victory in the 4th quarter. With that and a Buff win, it was a super Saturday!

On our way back from Vail, we stopped in Copper. Our ski passes include Copper this year so we were able to ride the chair lift for free and then the boys enjoyed the zip line (much cheaper than in Vail). 

It was great to get acquainted with a new mountain and village.

Team Dinner

Every Thursday after football practice, the football families get together at someone's house for team dinner. This week, was our week to host (with two other families). The weather cooperated and we were able to spread the party outside. The boys played football for quite some time in the open space which also helped keep the party a little calmer. 

D-man really liked hosting and enjoyed the end of the evening when just a few families were here (families with really good boys). 

We now know that we can host a party for 40+ people and survive!
