Friendsgiving

We don’t often get to participate in Friendsgiving as we travel to see family almost every Thanksgiving. So it was nice to be able to participate in a Tuscan themed meal with some friends to kick off the holiday season. 

We enjoyed pre dinner cocktails and snacks. We tried out a new cauliflower recipe and all the food was really delicious. We celebrated a birthday, shared laughs and definitely felt fortunate to have good friends around the table. 

Speaking of friends, Marshall made the trek to Denver on Thursday night with friends to partake in the Stranahan’s whiskey tour and we had an impromptu evening out with friends on Friday night. We tried out the new speakeasy in downtown Louisville and then grabbed dinner before watching the Cougs crush Colorado. 

We wrapped up the weekend with pickle ball and a Birthday beer at Crystal Springs. Thankful for friends, laughs, meals together (and so much more).

A Reason to Celebrate

With the crazy weekend schedule, we had to get a bit creative with the birthday celebrations this year for Mr. Marshall Peavy. 

On Thursday, we started with a nice dinner at Via Toscano with the the three Colorado Peavys and had “the three favorite dishes” of our server. We hadn’t been to this restaurant for several years (even though it is super close to our house) so it was nice to return and enjoy a meal celebrating Marshall. 

On Monday, I arranged for Marshall to go out to trivia with friends and take out Indian (my organizational skill left something to be desired here); but our friends came through! Tanner and stopped by for surprise cake and the team came away with second place! 

Folks also stopped by with beer and cookies and we opened a couple gifts here. Marshall capped off his night with a long FaceTime chat with Drake. A friend once told me that she has told her kids that who you choose to marry is the biggest decision you will make in your life. I’m fortunate my decision was my best. Happy birthday babe. 

Beating Seed

We had two sunny days for this year’s mixed states ultimate tourney. Saturday was windy and today it was warmer and we were all overdressed. It was a beautiful weekend to be outside and everyone got a lot of exercise going to and from the bathroom. The team was seeded 8th, but ended up placing 6th. The team has come a long way this season and it is fun watching Tanner in his element with his people. 

We also played cards, enjoyed sushi and watched the Huskers lose over the weekend. Tanner was very appreciative to have Nana and Pop here and mom and dad were glad to see Tanner play and learn about his sport.

Ultimate Media

 A few highlights from the MOHI media publications. The magazine team just recently won the equivalent of a Pulitzer Prize. 

First 1st

Alana and I were invited to trivia with Marshall and Paul after they had no other takers. We crushed it (we didn’t beat the bar, but they can’t win prizes) and Alana and I actually contributed. Woot! Woot! This was the first time the boys had taken 1st at this location so Alana and I are pretty positive it was all due to us. 😜

Special Delivery

 Gorgeous day so walked the ballots up to the Rec center. What a privilege to vote from home. And just be able to vote. Too many take it for granted.

Tough loss on Thursday for MOHI, but a gorgeous sunset. 

November?

Good weather hit us over the weekend which we worked to take advantage of all weekend. We attended a lovely evening at the Wrights on Friday night with folks around the fire pit and just catching up. 

Tanner and I volunteered in Fort Collins at the Special Olympics state flag football tournament with Alana and Benji. The event was held on the CSU campus and it is always nice to be able to volunteer to help make an event successful for the athletes. We picked up Aussie meat pies from the pie shop right across the street from campus for dinner. And then, wrapped up the night with games and cards with the Wrights. 

Tanner enjoyed a fun ultimate tourney - costumes and weird rules and all on Sunday with his school team. They didn’t win a game, but had fun. Marshall and I had a nice leisurely morning and then did a 3.5 miles hike on the 70+ degree day. We stopped by Tanner’s game, hit Costco and then wrapped up with a bit of yard work.

So glad I was aware enough to know I needed to go to the hospital. Even happier with fast care and a full recovery.
