Easter in Nebraska

Marshall, D-man and I flew back to Nebraska for Easter and D-man and AKG's baptism. We also celebrated Jai's 30th birthday - definitely a late night for Marshall and me. We enjoyed just spending time with family and being together. D-man woke up for the babysitter, but Pop came home and was able to put him down. Quite the feat! I did catch pink eye and had to go to the doctor, but other than that, a great trip.

Spring Break with Nana and Pop

Mom and Dad made a trip to Denver (it ended up being a long drive after forgetting glasses, a major wreck on the interstate, and very windy conditions). But they arrived safely on Thursday night and stayed until Sunday morning. I took the day off and we just enjoyed spending some time together, doing a bit of shopping, and taking D-man to the park. The weather was beautiful so we spent quite a bit of time on the front porch which was nice. A very nice visit.

Date Night

Saturday night was date night for Marshall and me. We went to Bistro Vendome for a romantic dinner. Our friends gave me a gift certificate for my birthday with free babysitting. So, we finally cashed in on the night. We went to their house for drinks before hand around 5:30. D-man had dinner and we put him down before we left. He was not too happy when we left, but our friends called to let us know that he quieted down about 5 minutes after we left (thank goodness - we were then able to enjoy our evening!). After dinner, we went for a drink at Palominos. It was a great night. Of course, Sunday morning was a bit tough on all of us. Luckily, D-man took a 2.5 hour nap and we all slept during that time. Was great!

Sick Again

Well, the first week of March was a tough one here at the Peavy household. D-man was home sick for 3 days and Marshall and I juggled work and taking care of him. Marshall finally took him to the doctor on Friday morning - another ear infection. From what I have read, this is most likely the same ear infection he had in January - just not gone yet from the last round of antibiotics...... Anyway, he felt much better after we started the antibiotics. This round was not cheap - w/ the penicillin allergy - all the meds are expensive. ugh. Expenses of parenthood I guess.

Girl's Weekend

My sisters (and niece) were here this weekend for a Karlen girls weekend - we had a GREAT time!! Picked them up at the airport around 5:00 on Friday afternoon and we ordered in Thai food and just chilled here on Friday night.

On Saturday, Jai and I ran out for coffee and we had some bagel sandwiches here thanks to our chef Marshall. Then went to Aspen Grove - an outdoor mall area to do a bit of shopping. Grabbed some lunch to go and then came back here so the kiddos could sleep. Jacki's friend came over for some Cosmos and then we went to the Great Northern Tavern in the Tech Center for some drinks and appetizers after D--man and AKG went to bed. We got home around 11:30 and D-man was up and didn't go back to sleep until 12:30. ugh.

Marshall made some breakfast burritos for us Sunday and then D-man took a 2+ hour nap so we were able to get in some boggle games! Or boogle as my sister would say! :) We just chilled out the rest of the day and were just all thankful to be together. AKG was a complete angel - sleeping through the night like a champ and just such a sweetie. The cousins took a bath together and D-man didn't even attack AKG in the bath. :)

What a great weekend - it made me sad to have them both leave. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at Jai's birthday at the end of this month.

Nice weekend

Well, it is Sunday night and we're unwinding after a nice weekend. Marshall played poker on Friday night and I finally got D-man's pictures in photo albums. Saturday, we went to the park with D-man who enjoyed the slide and swings.

Saturday night, we went out with the friends and D-man had a sitter. It was a nice time. On Sunday, we went to neighbor's 1st birthday party and then had the other friends over for dinner. Tomorrow, I don't have to work so D-man and I will spend the day together - will be nice.

North Platte w/ Nana and Pop

A quick trip to North Platte to meet mom and dad (aka Nana and Pop). Just a nice little trip to hang out and catch up. D-man enjoyed doing laps around the hotel room and also enjoyed time in the pool with the new ball he got from Nana and Pop for Valentine's Day. We toured around to scope out things to do in the summer - Cody Park with rides and an animal zoo; Maloney lake for boating; Buffalo Bill's Ranch. We also toured downtown and the UP railroad yard - the largest in the world. WOW! We played some games, watched a movie, and had a very nice time.

D-man Walking

D-man started to real put his walking skills to the test in January. He's definitely motoring around on 2 legs pretty well and many times, it is his chosen mode of transportation. To check out some of this first real steps - check out this short video

HAPPY BIRTHDAY D-MAN

Happy Birthday D-man!!!! What a wonderful day. D-man had a great day. Although it was ordinary in many ways, it was very special to us. It seems hard to believe it was a year ago that we welcomed our son into our world. He has been such a blessing and we are so happy to have him in our lives.

I started the day early so that I could spend some more time with D-man in the afternoon. We had a nice time hanging out, making his cake, and just being together. We got a bit of a scare when I thought that he had an allergic reaction to the cake batter, but then we called the nurse and it appears he is allergic to the penicillin for the ear infection. We will be headed to the dr.'s tomorrow to find out for sure.

Marshall made it home around 6:00 so we were able to celebrate with the angel food cake that I made. D-man liked the cake and ate his dinner like a champ.

Great Weekend!

Whew - we were busy this weekend. On Friday night, we had friends over for dinner and some cards. Unfortunately, per the usual, Mary and I lost. However, we are always determined to try again. We always have a great time when we hang out with them.

On Saturday, Drake and I met a girlfriend and her son (who moved to California) downtown at Chili's for lunch. My girlfriend's son is a month older than Drake and they had a good time imitating each other and chowing down. It was so great to catch up with my friend - we miss having them in Denver.

On Saturday night, we headed over to the Highlands to hang out with friends from Vail and Denver.  We had yummy take out Italian, played Dominoes, had Glugg and brownies. Thanks to our friend for sharing her Glugg that she worked so hard to bring from Sweden.

We headed back to the our friends house for brunch Sunday morning. We had a great casserole and we had Swedish caviar, toast, and bacon. After brunch, Marshall, D-man, and I headed to the Children's Museum to celebrate D-man's 1st birthday. I'm not sure who had more fun - Marshall or D-man. :) What a great weekend!

On the Mend

Well, D-man is finally on the mend after having a cold, a stomach bug, and then an ear ache. We're happy to have "the old D-man" back! He laid in the stroller, our arms, or his crib for 3 days. When he gets all of the illnesses at once, it is hard to know which ailment is bugging him. So, he was getting worse, but we thought it was just the stomach flu hanging on when it was actually the ear infection. Anyway, he was much better today. Thank goodness! We need him better for his 1st birthday! :)

January 2005

Well, I am going to try and get better about posting to our blog and also posting some pictures. We've spent the weekend at home with D-man who is suffering from the flu. We were supposed to meet my family in North Platte to celebrates his 1st birthday. Unfortunately, D-man's illness kept us at home. The good news is that the weather was great and we took a couple great walks which D-man enjoyed. We also stopped at the park and D-man got to go on the swings.

The month has just flown by. It started off with take out sushi and a night in for Marshall and me on New Year's eve. It was perfect as we hadn't spent time alone in a couple of weeks. D-man is also starting to cruise around on 2 legs these days. He's starting to walk on his own - even without mom and dad persuading him to walk! Childproofing will take on a new dimension now....

Christmas 2004

The holiday season was a busy one for all of us. We hosted the entire Peavy family here for D-man's 1st Christmas. Bob taught D-man to go down the stairs backwards, but he just wasn't quite ready to start walking. As usual, Claudia cooked a great Christmas turkey with all the fixin's. Marshall took off the week to enjoy it with his parents. It was a great holiday.

D'man and I spent the week between Christmas and New Year's in Pender with my family. He was a great traveler and it was nice to be "home" for Christmas. Jaima, Jacki, mom and I went shopping in Sioux City one day and the other days were just spent enjoying our time together and being with family.

We spent Thanksgiving with my family in Pender and welcomed D-man's 1st cousin into the world. AKG weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces and was 20 inches long. We felt so lucky to be home so close to her birth. We just spent time with family, hanging out, and watching CU beat Nebraska (again).

Thanksgiving 2004
