A Near Perfect Day

This is what vacation should be (complete with an upgrade from a studio to a 1-bedroom suite). It was a great day. We biked through all of Vail along the Gore Creek. We ended up at this great playground and the boys both requested we come back tomorrow. We stopped by the Jazz festival for some great music. Then we drow down to Beaver Creek for Oktoberfest for German food, beers, and time with our friends, the Knaufs. We had some adult beverages while the kids played mini golf and then played some bocci ball. 

We returned to our hotel and while the kids chilled in our room, we hit happy hour on the patio of the hotel bar (and within shouting distance of our balcony). 

We wrapped up the night with football, spaghetti dinner, and a trip to the pool/hottub.  

What a wonderful day. 

Hoping for 33%

We cheered on the Cougs Thursday night. Loss. We cheered on the Buffs Friday night. Loss. Here's hoping the Huskers can pull out a victory today's GO BIG RED! 

 

Buff Pride

The Rocky Mountain Showdown is tonight at Mile High. All the Peavy boys are showing their support for the Buffs!  

And the boys rode their new scooters to school today - love it! 

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Thanks the Geisert family, we participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge this weekend (beyond the deadline, but we still got it done!). Marshall got called out by T-man so we all participated.

Summertime by the Numbers

29 nights away from home (more for D-man; less for Marshall)

7 weeks in camp

5 states visited (Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Washington, Idaho). 

4 nights hosting Uncle Matt 

4 teeth pulled 

3 weeks out of state

3 amusement parks 

2 weekends hosting the Smiley family 

2 weeks at home with sitters

1 trip to the emergency room 

1 car with no air conditioner or working windows 

Countless laughs, memories, hours on the iPad, days at the pool, and miles on the minivan. 

2nd and 5th

Summer has ended and school begun. T-man rode his scooter (and then was chased by all the walking kids!) and D-man rode his bike with friends. Marshall and I trailed behind and enjoyed walking back with the neighbors. Here's to a great year!

Wacky Wednesday in Boulder

The boys have camps in Boulder this week so we made a last minute decision to have dinner in downtown Boulder on Wednesday. Marshall took the bus right downtown and met us at the Farmer's Market. We loaded up on good stuff and then walked Pearl Street (the pedestrian mall) and ended up at the West End Tavern for bourbon (me), BBQ (all), and beer (Marshall).

On our walk back to the car, we had a celebrity sighting (Rick Neuheisel - former CU and UCLA coach aka "vest boy") and walked by the Band on the Bricks concert. 

Hard to believe we have been here 1.5 years and this is the first time we have done this. Really fun to explore the "big" city!

Pirate Ball

D-man earned the pirate ball on the 4th day of practice. He was so proud and like last year, slept with the ball. He was especially proud because it is only the 4th day of practice which means he is doing very well and not getting it later when they "have to give it to you" (his analysis).  Better yet, he's enjoying practice. Here's hoping that enjoyment carries on into the games......GO PIRATES!

But not before one last night in Louisville with the Peavy family. So great to see so much of Matt during his US visit. Last evening spent at a birthday party at the pool, a trip to the local brewery, and cocktails and conversation on the back porch before bed. Come back soon!

The annual Lakeside library rewards trip was tonight. Always a fun step back in time and surprisingly, we got quite a few rides in given the lines. And what a summer - 3 amusement parks!

I could go on and on about how special our week in Idaho always is and post lots and lots more pictures, but I will just sum it up with "the cabin is definitely a little slice of heaven."

Family Fun

We were so fortunate to have our family's Idaho visit overlap with all of Marshall's family. Games, boating, tubing, chatting, and lounging were all popular activities. A great vacation made even better by time with family. 

Lakeside

As per usual, our first few days at the cabin have been wonderful. It's the same and different every year. As the boys get older, they experience the lake differently and (sometimes) more independently.
