Spokane Golf

Marshall and the boys left early on Wednesday to head to Spokane. Tanner dropped off the Marshall and Drake at Latah golf course and then hit three disc golf courses. Of course, they had to stop at Dick’s before heading back to the cabin.

Tanner has been into disc golf since we returned from Nebraska. He’s gone a ton with his friends throughout the Denver metro area and we have now hit two courses while at the cabin. 

As we rarely get down to the lake before noon, we have been getting out in the morning for the disc golf adventures. Claudia, Marshall, Tanner and I have made the trek to Spokane and Coeur d’Alene the last two mornings. 

The course is Spokane was a beautiful and difficult course. The CDA course took us back and forth over some wooded hills and was a shorter and more manageable course. The guys played and Claudia spotted discs and enjoyed the morning walks. 

We went into downtown CDA to walk around and see the sites. Tanner got some ice cream and we checked out a bit of the downtown before heading back to the cabin. 

It was a cooler day on the lake so not as much time on the dock, but a few of us did get in and warmed up in the hot tub. Perfection!

It’s Good to be Back

 Although a very late (early?) arrival on Friday night/Saturday morning, we got to enjoy a couple perfect lake days. Warm. Sunny. Cabin.

Westbound and Down

I rallied the troops on Thursday night to go out for dinner given that the weather did not look great for music in the park. 

We started talking about breweries in Louisville and ended up venturing out to Westbound and Down I’m Lafayette after we learned Matthew had not had Detroit style pizza. The beers were yummy and the pizza good. The consensus is that Detroit style pizza isn’t necessarily pizza, but was fun to try something new.

Not sure which if the boys wrote it, but it is so joyous to have them both home this summer. The house is full and I love it. 

Jackson State Park

A day trip to Jackson State Park on the eastern plains was the location for our summer adventure. We had contemplated Carter Lake just north of Louisville, but we read it can be very busy and didn’t want to risk not being able to get in. 

Jackson Lake is about an hour and fifteen minutes from our house and we had no trouble getting in or finding a parking spot. 

The swim beach was busy, but we we found a great spot to launch our paddle boards and enjoyed a couple of hours on the water. Thanks to a couple extra paddle boards snagged from the Wrights, all four of us were able to get out on the water.

Boulder Hike

Matthew, Marshall and I took advantage of a beautiful summer day to do a hike above Boulder. It wasn’t crowded and was a nice mix of sun and shade. Our destination was the Woods Quarry via the Skunk Trail.

We stopped in Boulder for provisions and then hit the pool when we got home. The night wrapped up with homemade pizza and Tanner rebuilding his disc golf basket.

Friday Night Follies

In the spirit of doing what they love on Friday night, each boy was out and about. 

Drake drove down to Colorado Springs to go to a rodeo with his friend from Miami (he lived on the same floor as Drake in Tappan). Drake doesn’t love the rodeo (or he doesn’t yet?), but he does love trying new things and being with friends. This rodeo is certainly a new thing for him. 

Tanner also did something new - he went to the professional ultimate game in Golden with someone from his club team. There were a decent amount of teammates there and he had a great time! 

Marshall, Matthew and I stuck close to home and enjoyed drinks and dinner on the porch.

Uncle Matt was able to get out golfing for nine holes with Drake on Thursday and then 9 holes of disc golf with Tanner on Friday afternoon. Love that the boys are out and about this summer doing things the love.
