Summer Solstice Tournament

We spent the weekend on the fields up in north Boulder watching our son doing what he loves. Fortunately, we had good weather and the team came away 3-3 - two of those victories wrapping up the tournament today. 

We got to know some of the parents a bit better and I was happy to have others that yelled more than I did! 

The team seemed to gel on Sunday and it was fun to watch them work as a team. Go Cutthroat! 🐟

Summertime

The boys finally got to leverage their Elitch Amusement Park this week. They said the crowds were not had and they enjoyed both the rides and the water park. So glad they had a day together. 

Marshall and I took a beverage to the pool for happy hour as we were so happy to have a sunny day. 

Definitely feeling like summer!

Juneteenth

I had today off from work due to the Juneteenth holiday. I started the day at breakfast with two former Return Path employees. I returned to two inflated  paddle boards thanks to Drake. I bought these specifically because I thought they would fit in the van…..Well….They fit, but not easily and with no view out of the back. But, we all fit and got on the road around 11:20. 

We made a stop at Culver’s for lunch and finally arrived at Horsetooth Reservoir in Ft. Collins around 12:45. By the time we found parking (harder than I imagined), it was around 1:00. We did luck out and get a spot right in front of a spot we could put in. 

We blew up the extra paddle board (borrowed from the Wrights), paid our parking fee and took off into the wind. Once we were away from the swimming beach, we didn’t have to deal with any crowds. We made some pit stops along the way and once we reached a specific point, we hooked up and floated back to the start. We enjoyed talking about what we were going to do to keep us busy this summer. It was a great inaugural outing with our paddle boards on the first day of the season that finally felt like summer! We headed back around 4:00 so Tanner could make it back for a friend’s surprise birthday party. 

I’m so glad we could have a day together on my day off and do something new together.

Biking to Music

Superior started music in the park this year on Saturday nights. The 5280’s band played the inaugural concert and I talked Marshall into riding bikes over to the event. We also got some folks to join us (they drove). 

We dropped dinner off for Drake at the golf course and then continued on to the new park for the music. Besides the chair getting stuck in my wheel, it was an easy ride. 

We had a gorgeous night and enjoyed some fun music and snacks and drinks. We then headed to the Wrights to play Secret Hitler and shared many laughs.

Dad’s Day

We tried to do a good job taking care of the special dad in the house. We enjoyed sleeping in and burrita in the back deck before venturing out for a hike. 

We had to be selective with our hike given all the rain and we picked a good one (after we figured out where to park).  It was finally a sunny day with some nice cloud cover and just so good to be out as a family of four. A family stop at Costco with ailments impulse buys wrapped up our outing. 

Marshall made a burger for Tanner before he headed out to Ultimate practice. Drake and Marshall watched some F1 before we had a nice BBQ outside (our first dinner on the deck this season). 

As the boys turn into young men, the impact Marshall has had on their lives is even more apparent. Marshall serves as such a great role model for them - how he engages with and treats others, how he helps around the home, how he engages with me and so much more. 

And I would be remiss to not mention my own father and how fortunate I am to still be able to call and talk with him on Father’s Day. We chatted while he was on the back porch so I could picture him looking over their beautiful yard.

Summer Funday

I ventured to Denver to have breakfast with two old colleagues on Thursday morning. We enjoyed locos hermanos burritos on Tati’s back deck. I then drove over the WeWork and enjoyed seeing all the Nuggets parade attendees milling around. 

I then ventured over to Rhino for a happy hour networking event with my former coworker from Snapdocs (and Return Path and ROIDirect). 

We wrapped up the day with music in the park after a thunderstorm. Here’s to summer (kind of).

Nuggets Bandwagon

We jumped on the Nuggets bandwagon this season and it was great to see them pull out the victory on Monday night. 

We went over the Wrights for a BBQ and cheered on the team to victory. It was not a pretty game at times, but it was a win. 

Drake popped by in the golf cart to grab burgers for he and Benji as they were both working tonight. 

Pretty cool that the boys have Super Bowl, Stanley cup and NBA champions all before they are 20 years old. Baseball and soccer are a ways off I have been informed…… 

Mom Son Day

Tanner and I ended up having a surprise day together on Sunday. Tanner told me he had a great day and that we should do it more often. ❤️

We went to the outlet malls and Tanner picked up some shoes, socks and some shirts. He got some great things at great prices. 

I then went to pick up some flowers at Home Depot and Tanner helped me plant them. The pickins were slim, but I got a couple just drop in the pot arrangements and we will see how the others fill in. 

Tanner’s ultimate practice ended up getting canceled so we were able to watch Avatar and together (and Marshall got home from golf to watch it with us too). 

It was a nice day of getting things done and also relaxing.

Social Butterflies

We charged right into summer activities since our return from Mexico. On Tuesday, Marshall golfed in Men’s league and I headed down to Denver to go out with the Denver Wesleyan contingent. It had been quite some time since we had gotten together so it was good to catch up on everyone’s lives. 

Marshall played pool at the new pool hall in the neighborhood and played trivia on Thursday. I ventured to Denver for a WeWork day on Thursday and had happy hour drinks with Snapdocs folks. 

On Friday, we had couple’s golf and played cards with the Wrights. Tanner is keeping busy with ultimate practice and Drake with work. 

The house is definitely more busy with four people home now and I love it.
