Fall Break

A few pictures of us this weekend. Lots of football, food and family.

Monarch Tourney

 We had great fall weather for the MOHI ultimate tournament. It was a tough tourney for the home team, but they wrapped up each day with a victory. 

Tanner had a cheering section of four on Saturday and three of us on Sunday. Tanner caught a Callahan score which was fun and always has a great attitude through the ups and downs. 

Eclipsing

At the Farmer’s Market 

 Our casual morning in Louisville turned into some impromptu eclipse viewing. We picked up burritos and our neighbor happy to be there and I borrowed her daughter’s viewing glasses (and she kindly shared with all the restaurant workers at my request). 

We picked up Drake in Boulder and then headed to the last Farmer’s Market of the year. We picked up veggies, baklava, bread and shrubs. We also made our own pin hole camera and could see the eclipse through the leaves in the trees. We were able to borrow glasses from folks while walking around as well which is another reason to love Louisville. 

D1 Nationals!

We watched the virtual selection show for the National Collegiate Water Ski championship. Miami was always going to nationals, but the question is would they be going as D1 or D2? 

And the good news is they are going in D1 at the 10th seed! Our tickets are booked! 

Exploring

We headed back to Oxford in Sunday morning to get Drake to his chapter meeting at 11:30. Tanner and I hit the back 9 of the Miami disc golf course and Marshall hung in the car. 

We met Drake for lunch, a stop at United Dairy Farmers for a shake and then said our goodbyes as it was a busy week for our Miami student. 

Our flight didn’t depart until 9:30 out of Indianapolis so Tanner and I hit two different courses in Indiana - one a nice public park in Richmond and then another one along Fall Creek outside of Indianapolis. A huge bummer that Marshall did not feel well enough to play and just hung out in the car. But, I’m go glad that we got to see some new places - none that we would find around us for disc golf! 

We had no travel drama which I’ll take any day.

Sleep in and miss the hotel breakfast. 

Grab a coffee and walk around a bit with Tanner. 

Explore Findlay Market in the Over the Rhine neighborhood. Enjoy a variety of food for lunch. 

Head to Oxford to partake in fraternity student tailgate. 

Watch RedHawks crush Bowling Green and start season 4-1. 

Head to Hamilton for dinner. 

Hurry back to Oxford for Colin Jost. 

Stand in line for comedy show with thousands of our closest friends. 

Laugh at Colin Jost and the other comedians. 

Head back to Cincinnati. 

Crash into bed with a full heart (and major props to Marshall soldering through what we eventually learned was COVID).

Family Weekend 2023

It was a lovely fall weekend in Oxford for family weekend. We arrived late Thursday night in Indianapolis and made our way to Oxford on Friday morning. We all helped organize Drake’s room a bit and headed uptown for lunch. Marshall had Skyline Chili and the rest of us tried the Bodega Deli. We ate outside on the picnic table - what a gorgeous day for outdoor dining. We then ran some errands and dropped Drake off for his exec meeting and headed out to the state park to do some disc golf with Tanner. Tanner’s disc golf habit certainly ensures we explore lots of new places. What a beautiful place at Hueston Woods State Park! 

When we got back to Oxford, we hit the book store and cashed in on the sale. We then picked up Drake and hit the disco golf course on the Miami campus as Tanner really wanted to golf with Drake. Once again, this activity led to exploring new areas of campus -  Drake had not seen it either. 

We then headed to downtown Cincinnati to our hotel. We found a spot with TVs (so we could watch the Husker game) near the sports arenas. We walked around a bit and finished watching the game at the hotel. It was a nice day with a variety of different activities. (the pictures are not in order with the new way I am posting to my blog as I don't want the pictures to disappear so enjoy the randomness).
