Even though Tanner was gone for the beginning of the summer, he has still been able to get involved in the Colorado Ultimate scene. He finished up his last Buzz league on a Wednesday night and I was able to tag along. We grabbed some Mediterranean food and ate off the back of my car (thanks to a rain delay).
Tanner’s white team was in the championship game. And while they lost, it was wonderful seeing Tanner coaching the younger kids up (the league is primarily high school kids) and working to involve all team members in the game. At the end of the games, there was a ceremony and Tanner (along with another player) were awarded best player of the league. He received a bag which he promptly gave to a freshman who did not have a bag. This is Tanner.
It’s another last. I remember driving down to Lakewood on Sunday mornings in the winter to Tanner’s first season in Buzz league (as he was too young too drive). And now, he’s passing the torch to the next generation of Colorado Ultimate players. (This weekend he is off at the Youth Club Championships to cheer on the Colorado teams and his friends).
Tanner has also joined the Red Lotus club team in Colorado. He practices a couple times a week with them and was able to play in a Saturday tournament last week. They lost both games, but apparently, they played them much closer than earlier this summer which is good to hear. Yay for Ultimate!
