For a variety of reasons, Marshall and Tanner did not go camping last weekend. Next year! Instead, we enjoyed some other activities together. On Friday night, we cooked dinner together and played a variety of games. Marshall was the clear winner in Abducktion, much to Tanner’s chagrin. It was a lovely, low key evening with the three of us home together.
On Sunday, we planned a trip up to the mountains to play disc golf at Ghost Town Disc Golf which Tanner had been wanting to play for awhile. It was a private course built by the couple that lived on the old mining property. Tanner made a reservation and we picked up breakfast burritos before heading up the hill. The course was in the old mining town of Russell Gulch. Remnants of the town still exist with some folks inhabiting some places, but overall a very quiet, deserted ghost town.
The disc golf course was certainly unique and followed along the old mining tracks of land - up above into the trees, across the road and down along a water shed area. I even played some holes with some great coaching from Tanner.
We took the long way home through Black Hawk and Central City on the Peak to Peak highway. As per usual, we don’t get up to the mountains as much as I would like during the summer so this was a nice little trip in my new car.
